Probably right on both counts
unless cook quits, he will stay as captain at least til the end of series.

will they have the cheek come the odis to open with cook and bell?

central contracts cause problems over players being left out now. the winter should have been the end for those with central contracts.

morgan has a central contract, so he has to be used

no bad bot scotty has no chance, under the current management and cook will be retained at least until the end of the summer.

this next test could have the lowest crowds for years, with it starting on a sunday

I think time should be called on Prior's career now, no point leaving it until a winter tour or the start of an Ashes series.

i called for it pre season. buttler was in form and had a point to prove after his mankadding. only for cook saying he was not ready for tests. so we have an unfit keeper, low on confidence, dropping dollies and getting out to ridiculously poor shots

English cricket, on paper, should be in a very strong position.

The reality is, it's not.

Hales couldnt even get into Notts 4day team recently and Morgan is done with longer format cricket no?

Not sure why the obsession with being able to bat down to 10 etc - if your strike bowlers happen to be decent with the bat fair enough.

Id hate that to be a reason the likes of Meaker, Finn, Dunn, Gurney dont get considered down the line.

F•ck it bring Gurney in now actually. And that Yorkshire opener who keeps destroying Durham. And Buttler.

your short pitched leg theory won again today

morgan has an ecb central contract which covers tests. he blew the ipl out this year, so from that, you could assume, he had a chance at test level.

hales scored three 150 plus recently at championship div one level iirc

It's a good ploy when used correctly. On the first day of a green seamer is a case of when it isn't used correctly! They shouldn't have scored 200 first dig. That's where the test was lost.

Morgans last 6 FC knocks are 191,20,27,81*,12,62. A century and two half centuries in last 3 games. That's not a man who's finished with longer form of game mind.

agreed. its got to be coming from the management this short ball rubbish. would be acceptable if the actually placed the field correctly. no third man kills me. miss hit shots going for fours. the first place i would have a fielder and if we had at least 50 runs would have been saved this test.

I never felt the need to bowl with a fine leg. If getting hit there too often you're bowling poor and need hauling off. Indians got a lot of nicks but play a lot quite late with soft hands and deliberately guide it down to third man. Crazy how many runs we leaked down there.

Why drop Robson?
Don't rate him. I know he got more runs than Cook this summer but 26 tons and 8000 runs says hel come good again.

it happened throughout the sri lanka series. surely moores, saker, farbrace and cook are aware that at least 25% of runs are through that area? they have analysis on everything and the placement of a third man, intead of a fine leg, which is for off line and rubbish bowling, is the correct place for someone to field. the slips often dive half hearted and the ball goes through for four. all this woulkd be cut to one

Cook, Bell and Prior look like theyre carrying a lot of baggage now. Broad and Anderson likewise but they look like they could recover with a good captain.

Give Morgan the job
