Canny. I'd like something similar - obviously not Paddy O'Dors like!Looks fab that.
I'm leaving a bit in my will to get me a bench somewhere.

If you don’t mind can I borrow that? That’s how I’d like to go.I'm glad he would have liked that
We scattered my Dad in the river at Stanhope as he said he liked the idea of floating past his favourite places on the way out to sea. He wanted to go through Weardale, through Durham where he spent a lot of time as a child train spotting in Wharton Park, through Washington where he lived most of his adult life and the past the SOL of course. The breeze caught while we were scattering and poor Bob (my collie) ended up a bit dusty. He would have found that funny.
Looks fab that.

Always wondered how you did this, my mother is 60 next year and I'm going to look into getting one for my Nana.We had to ask for it through the DCC Estates department then we paid for the bench and the installation costs.
I know several people on here visit Stanhope often. It's on the main road, about half way between the ford and Greenfoot holiday park. My Dad loved Weardale and they had a static van there for many years. It's a long slow climb back to the caravan site. He always used to stop about here and say "aaaaahs paggared! I wish there was a bench here!" Going to go back next spring and throw a load of bee and butterfly wild flower seeds around it. I still miss him so much especially on match days.

Is it in Durham County?Always wondered how you did this, my mother is 60 next year and I'm going to look into getting one for my Nana.
She is buried miles away and my Mam doesn't drive and always feels bad that she can't see her grave. Got a few places in mind and I reckon this would be the perfect gift.
Definitely be the number one son if I can sort it![]()
Mickleton?
Yes, well spotted.
It will be a bit before I organise it but I'm happy for any info you can provide to make it easier mate, thanks. Is it in Durham County?
Ringing them was useless. I had to create an account on their website and took a bit to find the right department but once I got through it was fairly straight forward. Took a while for mails to turn around but based on a map I give them they did have someone out checking out the areas. I can't remember my login but will have it at home. If you or anyone else (@EchoMan) want to know what department, give me a PM and that will remind me to look it up tonight, then I will post the info here.
Register on www.durham.gov.uk, go to services and click more services at the bottom. Then go to ‘seating and benches’. It does then say ‘use this form to report a fault with a seat or bench’, but going to next/details shows it is more than just that. When you click ‘request a new seat or bench’ the form changes and asks if it is a memorial seat or bench. It will be a bit before I organise it but I'm happy for any info you can provide to make it easier mate, thanks.
