M'Vila

Seeing as the lad has played very little football over the last 3 years, he may not want to miss another half of a season just to sign for us when bigger clubs than us would probably be happy to take him for nowt.
Possibly mate, just personally think if we dont get this over line during this window then we wont get him at all

Which would be a blow

Its not a silly deal though is it? We know what we're getting and he's class for us.
I don't pretend to know all the ins and outs of this carry on, but in my opinion
If we don't get him before the window closes then I think someone else will, one thing is for sure we won't get him if we piss about waiting until January.

If he can sign a pre contract with us now why hasn't he? Surely he can do that without his current clubs permission?

I'm more concerned that if we wait till january when he is on a free that makes him a far more attractive signing for a bigger club, class player on a free is a no brainer
And he'll probably get more than 5m as a signing on fee. He'd be committing financial harikari if he came to us then.

But, if we don't have him until January and have to play Rodwell then we could be in line to lose a hell of a lot more than £5m

We had M'Vila for all of last season and still very nearly got relegated. Signing him guarantees nothing!

The whole point is that you negotiate to try and get a deal that is suitable to you. That's applicable in all walks of life and business not just football.

Purely based on speculation linking him, let's say that getting M'Vila for £1m, instead of £5m, on 31st August allowed us to sign Fellaini AS WELL.

Would that be better than signing M'Vila now just to satisfy demand for a signing before we play Man City?

I don't know the figures. None of us do. Simply pointing out that businesses shouldn't just cave in and panic when there's still plenty time to complete the deals they want.

Wasting your breath when the pitchfork kids are in full voice

Precisely mate. Clowns.

Ironically SAFC have chucked silly money at deals previously which have put us in a poor predicament for years now.
On tried and tested players? When? I would have been extatic to see us overspend on the likes of Evans, Welbeck, Rose, Alonso or Ki if they would have been available, rather than spending 10m on Rodwell or 12m on Fletcher.

But football isn't just any business and youre right, we were very nearly relegated with M'vila in the side. Do you think if Rodwell plays there we'll have a better chance of finishing higher?
Fact is, whatever the fee, to sign equaivalent would cost a lot more and probably beyond our means.
