Do Rubin Kazan really want to keep demanding £5m and paying £140k/w for a player who isn't settled and doesn't want to be there (who is leaving for free in 6 months anyway), when they could offload him and get 1/2 mil from us (or whatever were offering) and everyone benefits. They're obviously holding out for as much as they can get but SURELY Sunderland know what they're doing here... Can they afford not to accept our offer?

The money we'll save by playing this game could pay MVilas wages for a year.

Surely they'll crumble on deadline day IMO and we'll sign MVila for an undisclosed fee. I hope.

you'd like to think so but more than ever no foreign club wants to get mugged by an English club this close season !

the fact that no-one else is coming in for him backs up our position ( until of course someone else comes in for him )

The problem is we have way too often in recent years had our pants taken down in transfers. We are probably trying to play more hardball. We dont want to pay over the odds but we need this fella. Hopefully we can get it over the line asap.

well you can imagine why he might want to come back to us ..he's had a miserable time in France and Italy, accused of wasting his talent , had to carry an axe around with him in Russia then finally has a bit of a laugh with us scraping through a relegation battle . Moyes is new to him tho and maybe the other PL managers aren't backing themselves to turn him around like Sam did ?

mate if you were talking about throwing big money about then yes you would have a point, but this is 5 million so you dont

We can have him for nowt in January.

Could use that £5m for something else.

Dress it up how you want but if you think 5% (approx) of turnover is nowt then you are a clown.

Good post - the simplistic views of many on here are staggering. The same lot who will claim all "bosses" are clueless etc.....

If brains were dynamite, there are many who couldn't blow their hats off!

Precisely mate. Clowns.

Ironically SAFC have chucked silly money at deals previously which have put us in a poor predicament for years now.

People complain clubs have our pants down on transfers, then think we should give kazan whater they want for a player they don't want and is out of contract in 6 months.

We aren't gonna get him for free you thick twat, so say we're are willing to pay 3m but they want 5m we are haggling and risking losing him for

Then the same lot are wise after the event claiming they were stupid decisions too - it's hilarious

Why can't we get him for nowt? His contract is up in Jan so we can sign a pre contract right now and wait til then. Simple as that.

Rubin only bargaining tool is we do probably need him now bit no way is 5 months worth £5m.

If we signed a player on a half season loan for £5m then we'd be barmy.

But, if we don't have him until January and have to play Rodwell then we could be in line to lose a hell of a lot more than £5m

Its not a silly deal though is it? We know what we're getting and he's class for us.

If he can sign a pre contract with us now why hasn't he? Surely he can do that without his current clubs permission?

I'm more concerned that if we wait till january when he is on a free that makes him a far more attractive signing for a bigger club, class player on a free is a no brainer

Seeing as the lad has played very little football over the last 3 years, he may not want to miss another half of a season just to sign for us when bigger clubs than us would probably be happy to take him for nowt.
