M'Vila

Fuck me Short never learns his lesson does he, we're looking for someone who is better and has better value translates into Ellis doesn't want to cough up the cash for a proven player!

He did it with Ki, someone we knew was great for us and instead wasted the entire window until Ki wasn't available and spunked the same money on Jack Rodwell of all people.

Right now we have a player coming off a great season with us. A player who wants to sign, a fee that is relatively small in today's market especially for a player of his calibre yet we are looking for better Value? What the flying fuck, let's sign David Vaughan again and get it over with this is Ki all over again.
How would David Vaughan represent better value?

Its bizarre isn't it. 'Just sack Sam the 5 million quid is just chickenfeed' - Just give then what they want for M'Vila etc.

Didn't you know that these Millions of Pounds just grow on trees? :)

But agh yes, if we negotiate on deals it might cost us in the long run mind. Relegation might happen all because we got the best deal for M'Vila...... Yeah of course lads!!!

I thought Ki didn't want to come back, and that Poyet didn't want him back.

The thing is though, f***ing around with a few million now could end up with us losing out on fuck knows how many million if the squad isn't sufficiently strengthened.

See how you mentioned "the squad"? Well that's one reason why you try to negotiate the best deal for yourself. Just handing over whatever a club wants means you're likely to blow your wad early doors and then miss out on other deals that you could've potentially had which would've improve the squad and not just one position.

Especially when it's pennies to the company.

Yep millions of Quid's are pennies to SAFC...... Go check our turnover and work out what £5m is as a %'age of it. You'll find its not pennies.

I work for a company who take more money in certain weeks than SAFC do in a year. £'m's are still not thrown around like pennies.

As you mention pennies though ..... Look after the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves.

mate if you were talking about throwing big money about then yes you would have a point, but this is 5 million so you dont

That's the widely reported figure, can't see everyone being too far off
I'm not sure figures have been widely reported, just a few people on here suggesting that.

If it is £5m then I agree with you on we should just get it done.

loosing M'Vila... proven in the PL, would send the wrong signals out.
3/4/5M for a player of his calibre is peanuts in the current market, yet we are penny pinching on a no brainer, what does that say for our ability/stance in the marketplace

the tragedy here is that he wants to come, knows the club, seems to have a decent bond with the players.

yet we are willing to ignore that for "better at better value". seems to be a tall order and one which we've historically been laughably poor at achieving

Think people need to realise we are not signing him

This. If we really wanted him he'd have been here by now, plus Moyes seems very cool on the idea.

Frustrating as hell. Hard to get quality players here, who settled and want to play for us. When we do, we turn our back on him.

Does he not talk to Stockdale and Bracewell ?
Surely they would tell him to get it done now?

I hope you are wrong , crazy losing out on a player we know is suited to this league and has proved it for us , take a look at some of the dross we have spent good money on and have became a burden to us

The figure was taken from reports in the Russian media i think mate

Good post - the simplistic views of many on here are staggering. The same lot who will claim all "bosses" are clueless etc.....

If brains were dynamite, there are many who couldn't blow their hats off!
