Must be Julien Sable

Potentially, potentially not.

It will cut down the wrong candidates though which is a good thing.

Not massively worried the last two head coaches appointed have been the right man at the right time.

Then there's the well known target in the summer who seems to be doing a good job at Nice.

They were, however interestingly both also criticised recruitment and didn’t agree with the model’s rigidity.

There was also talk of interference in team selection at the end of Mogga’s time here. I can’t imagine the pool of managers / coaches willing to accept that being very big! 🙄

I'd be shocked if Still came to us. He's 8th in Ligue 1 and over-performing. Taking us on means adhering to a recruitment strategy some way below his current level in scale, and trying to get out of one of the most competitive leagues in the world without having (seemingly) much input into who is recruited, in his first English managerial attempt. I don't care if he's only on £3k a week, he'll be fine financially, and will know he'd be taking a bigger financial risk taking what I suspect would be a relatively small offer from us to double or treble his wage, rather than taking a PL job worth 10x his current wage in a year's time.

If we get anyone from a top division job in Europe, it'd be some amazing work by Speakman and co given the restrictions on recruitment strategy. Sable might be the happy medium, and if they love Farioli, could be a nice halfway point now that he's off the table.

Each time we've let them go we've improved too.

I'd be extremely surprised if there's interference with team selections, but the rigidness is the rigidness, it's up to the head coach to get the best out of the players available. Which Dodds has came in and immediately done over an extremely small sample size (it was good to see two fairly different systems/selections at play though).

Personally I think we could do with being a little less rigid in certain areas. For example I think Gooch would have done a job for us recently especially with 3 full backs recovering from injuries, and I'd give Pritch another year which we still might.

I have seen continued improvement season on season with the "model" so I'm happy to stick with it.

surely reims budget is lower thsn SAFCs and surely they have DOF?
But i garee he isnt going to give up what he has in france for an english championship cliub..

I regularly see Chris Waters dashing both along the walkway between U and L, and also on the concourse appearing through doors going presumably to the main reception.

I know this kind of thing is almost certainly not his bag but he was with two gentlemen on Tuesday evening, and one of them could have been Sable. It almost certainly wouldn't have been mind.

I did think for a second that maybe he's mixing in with the crowd to see what the match day feeling is like. In reality it's probably just two blokes who couldn't find their seats.

It might be nothing, and probably is nothing, but thought I'd just drop something in here for the crack. :D

As long as we continue to improve then I don’t think anyone can complain.

Like you though I also think that the club should allow more flexibility in certain areas. I agree with the ones you’ve mentioned plus I also think they need to recognise that strikers with proven goalscoring records cost a premium and the difference between having one and not having one is huge! They rigidly stuck to their principles in the summer and we’ve ended up with 4 who are nowhere near ready and who currently couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo!

Recruitment in the rest of the team has been excellent and we are going well all things considered. We could just be doing so much better if they’d pushed the boat out that little bit more in the striking department.

Their budget is not lower than ours, they spent the best part of €20m this season. They will always be a selling club (every team in Ligue 1 is except PSG) but they will also have a solid budget to work with, and he has a much bigger say on recruitment than he would get here, because their structure is different.

I heard a bloke say thanks and goodbye, as Chris Waters pointed him towards the South Stand. The feller didn't sound French or Scandi, wasn't Mickey Beale and probably just asked where were the best bogs to smoke a spliff 😂😉.

By my reckoning, 3 Managers were originally thought to be involved…. Will Still, Julien Sable & Kim Hellberg.
2 of those have seemingly been ruled out leaving one contender… Julien Sable!

I really can’t see that one top target being an English manager like Heckingbottom or any other for that matter. Signing foreign players is the way we are going so it makes sense to bring in a multi lingual manager.

Unless they have some unknown I really can’t see it being anyone else than Sable now.
It's Will In the summer if we win Saturday old chap. Dodds till then .

If you were coming for an interview, apart from pay which might be an issue, you'd ask questions about what has gone wrong and what they plan to do to fix it. A potential manager/head coach would look at the last two managers/coaches who both left us in a better state than we were and want to know what the score is. If they want a "yes man" that is a tough ask of anyone who is ambitious and the people rumoured so far have options.
