Muntari is not happy here

Well, it's a circular thing isn't it?

As long as we're not winning he won't get the proper SAFC "passion buzz", and as long as he doesn't have it, he won't be able to join in with it and show his own.

It's not like the rest of the team, the manager, and the fans have all been doing the "PASSION!" thing around him while he ignores it, it's that nobody's been showing it so he probably doesn't even realise it's expected of him.

Muntari is a very experienced, and good quality player, that was why I was so excited when we signed him, but Jack Colback showed more on his first Premiership game on Saturday than Muntari has since he came. Certainly the squad/fans/management are downbeat at the minute, but Muntari's lack of interest hasn't been a product of that situation, if anything it may have been one of the causes of it, certainly at squad level.

He just can't be bothered, we'd be well rid of him now if we could get shot imo.

No, he has been brought here and paid a wage as a football professional to be professional and to perform to the best of his ability. I do my job to the best of my ability, and would never think of saying "eeh, i think a few others might be slacking off a little bit, i wont bother me arse", I would have thought someone brought in on a shit load of money who is apparently meant to be either earning a move or impressing other clubs might have thought of doing the same. Anyway, in terms of effort, he hasnt just been equal with the others, he's been behind some of them- gyan puts in more effort, as does bardo, turner, rico, hendo etc etc, so no, he isnt expected to lead us, he's expected to pull his f***ing socks up and work or fuck off

You sound like a saint to me.

If all my colleagues around me were working at 60% and being paid full wages for it, I'm not sure I could work at 100% for long.

He can fuck off then.

I'm becoming increasingly displeased with our African contingent. In fact, I'm going to change my avatar tomorrow. That will f***ing show them

If some of your colleagues were trying their best, or near to their best, and you were one of the highest paid, most respected members of the company and you were happy giving less effort than pretty much anyone else in the place, you would be a disgrace. Like I said, I'm not asking him to give 100% when others are giving 60%, there are others trying much harder than him and he should be at least matching them. The best players at the best clubs work their f***ing bollocks off regardless of others, no wonder Muntari is going to fuck it up and end up at the likes of SAFC/ Udinese/ Portsmouth and no doubt West Ham etc despite being a very good player rather than actually making it at a top club like Inter.

I've been in situations where my workmates were lazy fucks, it didn't stop me from doing my job to the best of my ability, if anything it spurred me on.

Why would anyone drop their standards because others can't be arsed ?.

I dunno man, I think Colback looked more eager to please, but I think Muntari looked more able, if that makes sense.

Colback obviously has more desire... he hasn't "made it" yet.

Muntari has played Premiership football before, got hyped up, got bought by Inter Milan, played Champions League football... he's been there and done it, so I'm really not surprised that Colback looks more "up for it" than him.

But, desire isn't everything, unfortunately... you need desire and ability.

Muntari (right now) might not have the desire of Colback, but Colback has nowhere near the ability of Muntari (again, "yet").

It's certainly debatable which is most important. I definitely prefer it when our players look like they give a shit, but then again, if we were winning, would I care if our players looked "up for it" or not? I'm really not sure I could say I would.

Exactly- and tbh when I've been at work even if i think others arent working, ive worked hard because a) I just personally want to feel as if i've earned my wage and also b) because i think that by working hard i'll have as good a career as i can manage, if others want to put in less effort and end up having a career that they look back on and think "i could have done so much more, why didnt i put everything into it" then thats up to them. But then we are probably that professional, hard working type, unlike certain posters on here and Muntari

I largely agree, Colback's done nothing yet where Muntari's clearly got something, but you ask me who I'd rather have playing centre midfield on Saturday, the kid with the desire or the experienced lad who can't be arsed, only one answer imo. As you quite rightly say, you need desire and ability, but if the comparison is Colback with a bit of ability and a lot of desire, and Muntari with a lot of ability but only a bit of desire, then I'd choose Colback every day of the week. I'm not saying that's necessarily what it is, but Muntari's yet to impress me at all.

And as for the last part, I don't think you win that many, if any games if your players aren't "up for it". Certainly Sunderland don't.

If you put the effort in and others around you aren't you get noticed and gain better positions with more pay.

If Muntari actually tried and was capable of showing the skill he obviously has week in week out he would stand a far better chance of a London move.
At present he'd be lucky to get a job at any team down there.

Depends who's "looking" though. Some senior management view others as threats while others wouldnt know what they were looking at if the greatest worker in the world was in the next room killing themselves with work.
Our immediate boss falls into the second category, which also has its plus points anarl;).

Wasnt it said at the time it was muntari or the training bairn. Come the next lot of snow next season and bruce start with the moaning this muntari loan is going to look a massive f***ing waste of money. I was also excited when he signed, but he just hasnt got up to speed with the game again and if all the rumours of his atitude are right its been a waste of time and money all around.

If our midfield doesnt improve I'm going back to me old Dean Whitehead avatar- f***ing missed him this season

Aye, him and his other useless SAFC mates are playing in Europe next season.

I've seen one decent thing from Muntari this season, oh, except when he played for Ghana v England he did well. Speaks volumes.

I thought Muntari's forward passing was a revelation the first couple of games. Unfortunately a forward pass on the ground is the same as a lump upfield the way we play. Until we start playing with wide players nothing will change - we will never retain possession for any length of time. Muntari is a very good player (not the greatest in world but still very good) but not suitable for our style under SB.

I would like to think that one day we would have a team that showed off skill and was capable of outplaying teams rather than muscle and endeavour alone.
