Mr Donald, please move the away fans back to the South Stand

Bollocks to that. Away fans as far away as possible from the pitch and therefore influencing their team. Sunderland behind both goals and around the whole pitch

If You need away fans singing at you from close range to make you chant, then you are chanting for the wrong reason.

Fuck the away fans. Support Sunderland
There seems to be some illogical view that we need have away fans next to our vocal support for us to make some noise.

If we move them to the south stand where is the vocal home support coming from? One side of them is the family stand so nowt coming from there and then you maybe have 1500 max in the sw corner who'd be drowned out by any decent away following.

As the lad above has pointed out the north stand has remained a morgue when having away fans next to them so nowt coming from there either.

I think sunderland fans react very much to the circumstances in the game. Second half yesterday when it was 1-0 you could tell it was picking up.

Maybe if our support was more organised we could perhaps get a better atmosphere going but that's probably not going to happen.

That was O'Neill's logic before we embarked on probably the worst run of home form in the club's history.

Personally, prefer the edginess and banter of having the away fans closer.

Well go and sit in the premier concourse when it reopens.

Their are countless reasons for our on pitch demise over the last few years. Moving the away fans is not one of them.

The argument is around atmosphere in the ground, not performances and it is definitely a key factor in making the atmosphere in the ground poorer. No doubt about it.

Or rather the Roker End as it is now called.

The atmosphere is crap. Move the away fans back to where they used to be to generate a proper atmosphere. Get the South West Corner bouncing again. Or better still...shift away fans into the family end of the South Stand and then we could have the SWC and section of South Stand to make more noise.

Martin O'Neil pushed for the away fans to move up a height to gain an advantage. Well it's done fuck all, we lost more home games than anyone else in the football league the last 3 or 4 seasons before this one and the atmosphere is shite.
Very few if any away fans when I was a kid and it didn't prevent there being a great atmosphere at Roker Park.

Must admit when we beat City 1-0 when Hutchison scored there was loads of Atmosphere between the fans, hilarious in fact & no violence. The next two times we beat them 1-0 it took ages to score and the atmosphere wasn't the same.....SW corner is where they need to be - try it and see the difference? Should be easy to arrange in this league against the smaller clubs who bring 500-ish?

Atmosphere is great when we are closing teams down or harrassing them. The crowd get behind them because that's what they want to see.
Trouble is we rarely do it.
Just watched the Everton v Bournemouth game, exactly this. So singing or chanting, I think it happening all over.

Agreed, away fans need to be moved down...I'd put them in the family end corner

Makes sense , I had a season ticket south west corner when the SOL opened and it helped the atmosphere having away fans next to ‘the chanters’ bit like the main stand paddocks and seats (Roker wing) , having the away fans south east corner would be best place for them move family end to the north

Atmosphere was shit by the end in the swc as well. Fact is football has been increasingly gentrified. Swc was just songs sang at away fans not getting behind the team

And where would you put the season ticket holders in the North Stand?

Other than at Portsmouth perhaps, the atmosphere from home supporters in general these days is poorer than 10/20 years ago.
During this time the average age of season ticket holders has increased to around mid40s plus+. And that’s the reason the atmosphere is worse we’ve all gotten older and less inclined to sing .,..

If they did that, it would probably chop 50% off the home gate.
Is these the fans that have supported the club for the last 40/50 years and make up a hell of a slice of the fantastic gates everyone is bragging about
