Moyes wants to include McCarthy as part of Kone deal...

I was told things will become clearer middle of this week with 2 deals to be completed in coming days but I know Sunderland don't normally work to such timescales so it'll probably be next Monday before we hear owt.
The players we bring in now have to be starters, not squad players! Hopefully some qualty players but we'll struggle to attract them!

M'Vila hasn't been mentioned for weeks. No idea what's happening/happened there. He definitely had a medical at the beginning of this month then it's just gone quiet.

this would tie in with him signing a pre-contract agreement. otherwise why has no other team been sniffing around, especially if they themselves can et him signed on a pre-contract......

Wonder if we'll add an attacking midfielder alongside McCarthy and get M Vila in Jan on a free

McCarthy was seen as indespensible at his first season at Everton, seemed to cover every blade of grass and worked tirelessly.
Over the last two seasons he's gradually fallen out of favour with the fans with lazy sideways passing, and failing to track back adequately.
There is a good solid Prem player in there though - an upgrade on Rodwell and Cattermole IMO and would compliment Kirchoff's contribution.

Think he'd be valued between 12-15 million.

Good player McCarthy.

As long as we actually replace Kone I'd be quite happy with this deal.

Have you heard about this @Doberman or were you just passing the link on? Haven't read the whole the read so sorry if you've already answered that.

it ties in with what I've been told.

If we take McCarthy as part of this deal, it doesn't change the fact that Moyes wants 2 defenders (one of which will be a centre half).

Add 5 players to our current squad + Borini, Kirchhoff and Cattermole who were missing yesterday and we'll be fine.
It depends who those five are. I think we need a centre half, a right back, two midfielders and a striker and then to replace anyone who leaves on top of that.

When the Kone deal broke my mate who works in football in Manchester said he knew Moyes wanted a player but wouldn't say who.

agree with that. if kone goes I thnk we need 2 centre halfs. one of whom is eady to go straight in the first team.

Jagielka isn't for sale and won't be going anywhere. The prospect of McCarthy leaving Everton is high, he isn't considered a first team CM anymore and Everton are looking to sign another CM by deadline day. There will be no swap deals. Transfer income is counted as revenue and allows clubs to increase their wages beyond FFP restrictions in subsequent years. If there are deals between Everton and Sunderland regarding Kone and McCarthy, then you can expect Everton to pay about 20 million for Kone and Sunderland to pay about 15 million for McCarthy. Don't be surprised if Darron Gibson comes your way as well. Snort all you like, but he is actually a decent player that will improve you.

unless Darron Gibson can master the art of hiding in the middle of the park then we're not interested. He's nee Paddy McNair.

If Kirchoff is a walking sick note , Gibson is static sick note ! No thanks and won't happen anyway.

He had just signed a new contract at Wigan and still had 4 years to run. I have no idea how long he has left at your place, but after 3 years, there can't be a great deal.

He joined in 2013 and we gave him an improved 5 year deal last summer. So 4 years left on a 'Kone reward' style contract if you like.

Unless we have a CM signing in the offing I just can't see it lads. No way will we go into the season with just 3 CDM's (Besic is out for 6 months) so one injury to Gueye or Barry and we are down to the barebones, and Koeman has spoke massively of wanting a big squad to compete for places/deal with injuries.

I would also argue that swap deals very rarely happen in football, I think the last one to happen in England that was high profile was Gallas and Ashley Cole, which was God knows how many years now.
