Moyes: This is what I have to say to Sunderland fans who want me sacked

Don't get me wrong, I'll hardly be upset if Moyes was to go (although I don't think he should be sacked), but it's pretty obvious he either is blunt (and accused of being downbeat) or is positive (and accused of being deluded). There is literally no thing he can say that will please people. All he can do is get results:

Therein lies the problem...

Keane told the players before a game against Villa, and I quote "Look lads, youre shit, we all know youre shit and will lose, but at least try and enjoy being shit". They drew the game.
That sounds like reverse psychology to me, and besides Keane isn't our manager anymore.

Don't get me wrong - he's doing a poor job. My point, though, is criticise the results - not what he says. What he says doesn't matter.
Yes it does.

Regardless of what he says to the press, how does he get his instructions across to the players? Do they have a game of charades to guess the tactics?

“I have to earn their support and at the moment, I could understand they didn’t see that because of our results.

“When I came here, I did not expect it to be an awful lot different although obviously, I hoped it would be.

“I can only tell them that we’re doing everything possible to get there and I’ll keep doing it until told differently”

Hanging on for the pay-off

The question is can Moyes get us out of this mess either win the Championship next year or by some miracle stay up again? If No is both then sack him now!!!

Moyes saying he expected a relegation battle is reverse psychology too then.

No, but he didnt have every word picked over.

Not to me it wasn't. He didn't say it directly to the players, although it was obvious they would find out. He said it to get his excuses in early, to lower expectations and to try and get some pressure off himself, IMO.

I swear people worrying about his press conferences think it's like football manager and every time Moyes makes a press conference the players all watch and their morale goes up or down. They have enough time with him during the week they're hardly going to be following the live twitter feed or reading the echo to see what he said at the press conference. They're all balls deep in their wags or swimming at their mansion man.

Ah so it wasnt to the players, even though you said they'd be listening. Canny.

This :lol::lol::lol:

Never known a bunch of fans to focus so much on what a manager says to the press

Correct. Its embarrassing. When it was before the season started/just into it the same crack was being lapped up, tells it like it is etc.
Well let's focus on his results or his tactics. We could also focus on his style of play and his substitutions. No matter what we focus on its all shit. The bloke has made a right balls up of the job, he is totally to blame for this.

So he expected no wins after nine games?

A lot of what managers say in press conferences doesn't matter but some things do like saying we are in a relegation battle after 2 games or saying this is what he expected after we have made the worst start in PL history

Saying something like "we know we have started poorly but are doing everything we can to improve" instead wouldn't have led to as much stick

TBF to Moyes he has picked from a limited availability. He had the tactics spot on down City and was undone by very back luck. As someone else (who listed all the games) pointed out, in the main its been a combination of bad luck and the odd individual error.

City: Freak own goal cost us
Boro: Had no one fit so played the kids. Defoe missed an absolute sitter at 0-0 that he'd usually bury.
Spurs: Took a defender to be snipered by a worm for them to score.
Palace: Two up and then a flukey goal puts them back in it. Players then go to sleep at the last seconds on a set piece to throw it away. Same the week end gone.

Limited or not, he keeps picking f***ing Rodwell when he clearly isn't up to it.

Bar the City game where I think we done well we have been f***ing shit against every team. They have all ripped us a new arsehole and bar some dodgy finishing we have only been beaten by a few goals. How the fuck we were 2 up vs Palace was beyond me, when they upped their game after they realised they needed 2 they took us apart with ease again and dominated the fuck out of us.

The players on the pitch don't seem to have a f***ing clue what they are doing and resort to just getting rid of the ball as soon as they get it. There is no movement or anything, just players marking space and pointing at players when they don't have the ball and then when we have it they stand next to their opposite number so they won't receive the ball. If they do get it, they pass it away as soon as they can and then stand about like f***ing milkbottles again instead of trying to make space and play triangles. It really is f***ing basic stuff, stuff I learnt at School nevermind a so called professional setup.

It's like they have played too much FIFA where teh only player you can move is the one on the ball, or the one nearest the ball when you don't have it. The rest of the team just stand about in space waiting for their go.

Take the press conferences out of the equation then and focus on results.

That doesn't even make sense. He said it in a TV interview, not directly to the players. The players can still be listening even if he is not saying it directly to them.
