Shoulda gone to Newcastle for restaurant week.

He has the players at his disposal to do that though. Their game plan is extremely simple. Rough up the opposition, win your second balls, if in doubt hoof the fucker. Man to man we just didn't have the players to compete with a side like that.

In the NYE game I think we were set up quite well against them initially, and looked a better side. Then we lost Kone to injury, and we lost any height in midfield as O'Shea had to drop back in. Then we lost Anichebe at half time. Men against boys from that point on.
It's the story of our season reason. Losing key players in key positions. Moyes gets the blame for not having a back up plan but you can only work with what you're given. The injuries are the number one reason for our current position in a short term view.

Yeah maybe. Djilibodji looks far better with Kone next to him and Denayer hasn't played alongside Kone as far as I can remember....

That's the state we're in sadly.
Just watched the goals from Tuesday on BBC Website - Djilibodji's missed header for the 2nd goal :lol:
Denayer seems a decent player at centre half. He's been shown up massively in midfield recently and should stay centre half imo. Even if that means 3 at the back now.

As much as it didn't work on Tuesday, I think 3-5-2 is the best formation for us. It allows us to incorporate JOS in the team without relying on his creaking legs. The problem then is who do we put in midfield? Larsson and Love? Fuck me, that's terrible

Hopefully Big Vic is back on Sat and at least gives us an out ball...

Agree. Think it's fair to say we would be doing much better if we could play our strongest XI. As it stands on Sat, we will have about 4 of our first choice team playing

Pickford
Jones Kone Djilibodji VanAanholt
Kirchhoff Cattermole N'Dong
Watmore Defoe Anichebe
only me who thinks even with that side we are still a very poor outfit

Nice to hear Ellis has rushed to the scene of the crisis.

About time.
