Mowbray press conference

I don't think we should gamble.
It's more the dampening of expectations.
I'd like to see a bit enthusiasm from the manager and the board regarding promotion.
It would give the fans and players a boost.
We all know what can happen at this club when we get a bit momentum.
Exactly👏👏

If the club really wanted promotion they'd be investing now on a proven striker while we still have a chance of getting into the play offs
And what happens if we spend millions (and proven strikers cost millions at this level),then give him massive wages (and he would demand them), then we don’t get promoted.
We then have a player on our hands who we can’t afford, or we can just about afford him, but the rest of our squad all want bigger contracts, because he’s got one.
As I said - short-termism. Been there, done that, it didn’t work.

The self loathing at this club from the local press, owners, managers and fans over the years is embarrassing.
Half this board have drank the KoolAid. It’s fine it’s fine all part of a long term plan to replicate Bournemouth and Brentford. Let’s not dwell on all the other teams who’ve tried the same and failed. Let’s not get above ourselves.

Why tho? I find it baffling, especially now we have seen what the league is all about. We've only been steamrollered 45 mins all season. Nothing to be afraid of.
I agree but if you look at our transfer business you can’t really come to any other conclusion.

By the looks and sounds of it we’re looking to bring in another couple of exciting youngsters which might bode well for 18 months time but does little for the here and now.

When we paraded Amad, Ba, Michut and Bennette to much excitement I bet people would have been disappointed had they known that Amad apart the other three have failed to tie down a regular starting place in a side that finished 5th in league 1 last season.

I don’t need a boost thanks, and it’s obvious by their body language that the players don’t either.
The fact that we’re going to get a 40,000+ crowd for a Sunday 12.00 ko that’s on tv, suggests there’s already a feel good factor around the club.

It doesn't have to be millions as you claim

But what if the opposite happens. We get a player in and he bangs in the goals to get us into the top flight and the millions that would bring in. Extra exposure around the world etc. Attracting better quality of player.

There is no so such thing as short termism. Whenever you get any kind of opportunity in football to progess it has to be grasped with both hands otherwise the club stands still or worse go backwards while other clubs progess forward

Yes and they're trying to dampen it.

We’ll agree to disagree then eh?
But I’m much more interested in the long term future of the club, than I am about getting promoted this year. Of course it would be nice, but I don’t think we’re there yet, and the addition of a striker isn’t going to change that.

And Arsenal fans were going apeshit, they even wanted Wengar sacked ffs.

I wasn't on about appeasing fans by spending money.
It sends out the wrong message that we're not really going for promotion when we have an opportunity to.

6 pts separate 12 clubs from 3rd down over (top 2 are gone)

Everyone of those 12 clubs should be having a right good go at finishing in the play offs and ultimately achieving promotion.🤷‍♂️
Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two steps forward. Arsenal fans were going apeshit about arteta just last year. They now realize they were wrong.
