Mowbray press conference

Don't know why you bother going tbh. Never heard you say anything positive, ever.

I go because I've been doing it since 1995 home and away. Never once thought about walking away from following SAFC unlike so many who have.

And I do say positive when it is justified but its conviently ignored by people like yourself who can't have a pop back

Sport tends not to go to plan - that’s why people like to watch it. It’s fine having some overarching philosophy but you should be opportunistic too - if the play offs present themselves and we need to push a bit, shouldn’t Sunderland be looking to be in the PL?

Because we have unambitous owners and a dinosaur as a manager
We have owners who are gradually building the club, so it’s in a position to stay in the Premier League, when we get there.
They are doing it in a financially sustainable way, so we’re never again in danger of going bust, and being at the mercy of shysters like Donald and Methven.
Sounds ambitious to me. We’ve tried short-termism before, and it didn’t work. Unless you’re a top 6 club that’s never going to run out of money, this is the way to go.

Looks like a back four of Hume, Ballard, Batth and Gooch, if we're lucky, going by that press conference.

If so, another option is Hume (or Wright) in a back three with Gooch and Clarke as wing backs.

I don't think they'll start throwing games or anything daft like that to avoid being in the mix, they just won't gamble their position right now. I don't think it's a bad thing.
I don't think we should gamble.
It's more the dampening of expectations.
I'd like to see a bit enthusiasm from the manager and the board regarding promotion.
It would give the fans and players a boost.
We all know what can happen at this club when we get a bit momentum.

Just when you say things like unambitious owners and dinosaur manager it's all a bit doom and gloom and doesn't sound like you're happy with our set up, and the future.

We have more history and fans than most, but that doesn't mean anything here and now. We were stuck in L1 for years and even when promoted we relied on the play offs finishing 5th. We have gone from a playoff l1 team to a championship mid table team in 6months and that's and incredible improvement from where we've been. Dampening expectations makes sense because of that as people get carried away and expect too much too soon
I disagree with all due respect. We should be a bit more bullish about it all imo.

You seem to be under the impression the club can pick and choose when we get promoted. Football does not work like that either on the pitch or on the business side of things. It changes at rapid pace.

Because while things are ok at the moment I've seen too many times it go sour and will not get carried away. I mean this time last year it took immense pressure to simply get KID to reveal just how much he and Madrox had in terms of the shares.

You could easily read between the lines this season the clubs ambition is stability.

There’s never been any hint that we’re looking to get promoted.

Of course they can’t no. Do you not think the team to go out and win every match they play in?
Do you really think the club have made a conscious decision that they don’t want to get promoted - football doesn’t work that way.

Why tho? I find it baffling, especially now we have seen what the league is all about. We've only been steamrollered 45 mins all season. Nothing to be afraid of.

Fully back Mowbray and the club. Taking pressure off the players, not going daft to make the top two yet and the play offs are a gamble anyway even if we make em which we might and we also might win them. When we are ready to go up we will go up. There is ambition but there is ambition at a sensible pace.

It's weird, last week Mowbray was saying next season is going to be harder to get promotion.
