Mowbray press conference

Just seen he has said we are trying to grow the sqaud and will hopefully be signing some young exciting players in a few weeks. I get that we need to grow but im hoping we bring one or two in that can slot straight into the side and make us stronger. We have a real opportunity to make a good push for the playoffs.
That's what he said. Let's hope there’s someone who can go straight into the side

He said we’re growing slowly to be in a position to be really challenging in 12/18 months. We won’t make a full tilt at promotion this year, imho. I’m not unhappy with that.
I just think its going to be a missed opportunity id we dont go for it. I think the championship this season is the most open as i can remember. Next season we’ll probably have Sheff Wed, Ipswich coming up along with potentially 3 out of the current bottom 7 of the premier league coming down, will be alot harder imo.

Should have gave us discount on our season tickets if we only going to be half arsed to try n get promotion now.
Jesus man, this place is a joke at times. The board could not have been any f***ing clearer on how they will approach things. The aim is to grow the club steadily, buying young talent and developing them.

They won't be spunking millions to try and force a promotion, neither will they detract from their model.

A few fannies on a message board throwing their toys out the pram won't change that.

dont think thats going to happen......buying £2mill players and slotting in and going for the play offs is not the plan.......we have no money or squad yet to comepte in the Premier...

If KLD was given promotion right now do we think he'd take it? He probably would but it would be a case of go up and come straight back down....take the money and parachute payments and go for it again when we have more funds. However that might cause KLD issues with the fans to go up and not make much of an effort.

Therefore I think he would prefer to continue with the plan and build for next 2 seasons.

What do you think the reaction would be if the Man Utd owners said at the start of the season "By the way we're not going to try and get Champions League this year, we want to build slowly and maybe have a go in 2-3 years time"

And before you ask, no I don't want us to spunk millions on overpaid shite.

And yes I'm more than happy with our recruitment of young up and coming players.

Probably different to the response of newly promoted Sunderland.

Not intentionally i'm sure but you've paraphrased that quite a bit. He said we're growing the club incrementally and in 12/18 months we would be as strong as the sides at the top. Also taking it game by game before setting targets which is understandable imo.

We're not Man united. We just got promoted.
