Moussa Sow

If he knocks in the goals. If he doesn't we'll have spunked £10m on a player who will have no resale value, be on decent wages and whose contract will run in to his mid-30's

Look I'm not trying to be negative. I'm not even saying don't sign him. Its not my money, I don't care if the club gamble with it. On a personal level the reward is well worth the risk. I'm just trying to look at both sides of the coin.

Couldn't you make this statement for any player we signed?

So yes... you are just being negative.

I'm sick of 'one for the future' types, they tend to be hit and miss anyway. We're still waiting for Wickham to come good almost 5 years later ffs.
I'm all for this. The here and now baby.

Wickham will probably learn more training every day alongside Defoe and Sow than he would starting up front for us.

You sound like you are advocating Newcastle's transfer policy as the only viable one.

I suppose you have a similar negative view about the Lens signing as well? Waste of money eh?
f***ing hell people are allowed to have views that vary somewhere between Newcastle's way and Sunderland's way. Like I said, I don't mind if the club gamble on him. I'm just trying to look at a broader picture.

Why would I have negative views about Lens? £8m for a regular dutch international, in his prime, who plays in a position we desperately needed filling is fantastic value.

every time Sow has spoken of his future in the last few years he has insisted that he is happy to be playing in a muslim country. Not saying the move won't happen, but that is not such a generic statement as saying he is happy at the club.
