My CBT was taken in Leeds but I thought the CBT was a complete joke.
Like you, the class room bit was in the van and also sat on a wall.

The whole CBT I thought needed to be a bit harder. During my day, one lad went round a roundabout the wrong way and still passed.

 I wasn't that bad but did almost end up under one of Stagecoach's finest. Plus the bike was absolute crap, I never had a clue what gear I was in!

Did my CBT in Brighouse with a fella called Steve. It was summer and we all had the earpieces in, riding around past various scantily clad women and all we could hear was a string of "phwoarrr look at the rack on 'er" and "bloody hell missis" comments off him before he told us to keep our eyes on the road

Just booked an assessment with Ace at Durham for mid May. looking forward to it.

Been looking into doing a CBT as I need some form of transport.

Does anyone know what kind of prices I'd be looking at for everything, so the CBT, a decent 125 bike, helmet, insurance, tax etc?

Where's the best place in the NE to learn, and pass my test? I'm a complete fuckwit when it comes to bikes. I kna nowt.
The new euro bike test is a knacker, mate. Good luck with it, including the emergency stop at 33mph on a RH bend. Pretty sure you have to do hazard perception & theory anarl, these days. It was better in the 1970's, when all you had to do was ride around the block, whilst the examiner smoked his pipe. If you didn't fall off, you passed. :-D

I've always wanted to do this but I know 2 people who have died on them and another who had a crash 16 years ago and just last month came out of another operation that has (hopefully) finally fixed his left leg. I'm also prone to being a bit fearless on a mountain bike and snowboard having broken my jaw in two places, twisted my pelvis, put my back out also and had concussion once or twice so all things considered I'm staying well clear of them

I'd love to but I'd enjoy it too much, I'm far too much of a thrill seeker. I'd be dead in a matter of days. 2 of my mates got kicked off one course because they ended up racing each other around the cones that had been set-up

I wouldn't prosper in the new Euro test, either. Nee fun. ;)

the reason the new EURO test is a ball-ache, is because the slow speed manouvere has to be done at 50kmph, thats 31 mph. so thats breaking the speed limit in this country, and has had the training schools building off road courses to do it on. the brake, swerve, brake part is just stupid, and had loadsa people, instructors included , trashing bikes when the test was first done. there wasnt anything wrong with the old test. if car drivers had to go through as much chew , there would be no cars on the road. imagine if you had to take your car test every 3 years, just because you wanted a small car! or take a much more expensive test for a car you will never drive! or alternatively, pass your car test at 17, buy a ferrari, and kill yourself, all in the same afternoon! thing is ,its called the Euro test, hardly any euro countries have it, and you can ride up to a 150cc, in most euro countries, with no licence , (or insurance) and in some cases, from 14 years old. its a farce.

just watch out for the blind car drivers, there are plenty of them, trust me. When im on the bike heading towards a junction im going past, if there is a car waiting to pull out i prepare for them to, they just dont see you.

Cheers fella.

My insurance will be a bit more like, I'm a 22 year old male :(

Is there anywhere online I can buy (or at least look at) new bikes?

bds have some canny bikes in, considering a lexmoto street or scooter laterin the year..

Heads on full beam, get eye contact & if that fails sound your horn & be prepared to take evasive action. There is a car driver out there waiting to T-bone you.
