Are you just doing your CBT or going the full hog with a Direct Access?

Pick my first bike up tomorrow and I can't bloody wait.

I would like to do the whole hog mate. What bike are you going for?

Avoid the one at Stockton like the plague, can never get hold of them and not the most helpful bunch!

Gonna do mine next year once I can afford to do it all properly.

New place of residence and car has put a halt on it for now!

Enjoy it though! All the best

Honda Varadero 125. I'll give it 6 months to build up a bit of confidence then probably go for the full or restricted test.

nice bike that, im after a 125 now like,my little 50 is abit too old and slow.

never rode a geared bike but i fancy a nice super moto, failing that, a big scooter like a piagio x9 or suzuki burgman.

im just skint.

Don't buy a CCM. They have the worst build quality of anything I have ever purchased. Went from showroom to scrapyard in 3 years and 15,000 miles.

I did my CBT with Ace Motorcycle Training in Durham, just round the corner from the Arnison Centre. Couldn't fault them really, and they charged about the same as everywhere else at the time (2008).

I'm gonna get a Triumph Bonneville America.

ACE motorcycles Finchale Road Framwellgate Moor.

They do the lot and for beginners to train and take the test I think they even provide the bike.

Tel. 0191 - 3846404

for the cbt

first part of the morning is highway code then

basic maintainance

starting off, cornering braking

lunch

finishing off, cornering braking etc

2 hour road test

good day, I enjoyed it.

trainers are non bullshitters

done my test with them as well.

they look after you

even get a free t shirt when you pass your test

Another vote for D & J, I used them about 10 years back and my mate is learning with them now, great bike school

aye they have a great rep. this time of year the prices gan up mind as everyone wants to do it now. if you can be arsed wait till near the end of the year its loads cheaper.;)

I did my CBT with XS in Washington and my Direct Access with Newcastle Rider Training. I wouldn't really recommend either to be honesty. NRT are very professional but cannot cope if you dont stick with their prescribed six lessons before taking your test (i wanted a couple of extra to nail my Mod One and it threw them completely). XS were very poor, the classroom element of the CBT took place in the back of the instructors van  If I hadnt already bought a 125 I think it would have put me off biking

Agree...

...& in line with Soapster, they also used to provide a free t-shirt, but when I did mine many years ago they only had shirts with "Instructor" written on it.

Still wear it now

My CBT was taken in Leeds but I thought the CBT was a complete joke.
Like you, the class room bit was in the van and also sat on a wall.

The whole CBT I thought needed to be a bit harder. During my day, one lad went round a roundabout the wrong way and still passed.
