I know, you poor thing ;):)

Go on then, tell us, I know you want to :):p:lol:
Well since you asked, but I did say it was boring. Dad was from London and was an Arsenal fan, mam hated living it that there London so gave him an ultimatum, “I’m going back to Jarra, you can come if you want”. Well dad just does as he’s told and off they go. When we were kids, dads mate was a Sunderland fan and he took us to games, in a bastard 3 wheeler and in those days, he had to leave us in the car whilst he had a pint in the Prince of Wales, bastard freezing it was. Anyhow I stuck with it instead of following dads team. I got my own back on my boys, they followed Sunderland instead of their home town team. They’ll never forgive me! They were born in Leicester.

Never boring learning how people came to support this brain fart of a football team, I’m always genuinely interested. Your dad’s mate had good sense :)

You deprived your sons of supporting a Premier League winning team, you bad bad man :lol:

:lol: I didn’t want to devalue the sheer masculinity in the picture, Janey didn’t count as you could barely see her peering above the flag bless :lol:
Short arse that I am :lol:

I support Sunderland because my dad and my 4 older brothers and 3 older brother in-laws did, as did all my mates and my mates relatives. Its funny like as I was growing up in the 70s and 80s there wasn't many lasses who were remotely interested in football, but there's bloody loads now
I still remember, like yesterday sitting watching the 1973 cup final with me dad. (Warning long post alert)
He’d been going since he was a lad of about 11 so roughly 1948. When I popped along, to earn extra money, he worked in me grandas bookies on a weekend to earn extra money. This meant he couldn’t go to games for a while. He was doing this in 73, he was offered a ticket but turned it down because he said he wasn’t going and others deserved it more.
From a selfish point of view I’m glad he didn’t go, watching that game with him, will stay in my mind forever, I remember it like it was yesterday and it hooked me in.
You are dead right about lasses not doing football then, I had many battles being accused of only going because I wanted to look at footballers legs, I had people challenge me as to what I knew about football, me mates used to tell them, don’t go there, before I made them look silly.
Rant over, sorry :oops::lol: x

I don't mind. Mol has been getting PMs all day from people who hate me in real life. :eek:;)
:lol::lol:

It did, use to feel like you were tipping over.
Always wondered what it must have been like to be in one of them :)

When I moved here in 1990 I followed the Blades home and away but started going to the odd Sunderland game with the woman who worked for me and her boyfriend. That developed into having season tickets for both teams for quite a few years. I never made a conscious decision to say Sunderland are now my team, it just crept up on me. I remember the Mickey Bridges game in 1998 at Bramall Lane which I watched from the Kop as Sunderland ran riot, i definitely wanted Sheff U to win. By 2002 when the Blades won 2 nil in the League Cup game, I watched with my Sheff U mates on the Kop but definitely wanted Sunderland to win.

Me Mam started going in the 60s with her brother. She had spell away from it when I was a kid and just me and my Dad went because she was at home with my little sister. She got back into it though and has lost count of how many grounds she's done. She still loves her aways now and the trip from London bridge station to Millwall the other week didn't phase her one bit.

You're a lucky lass having that relationship with your dad and also lucky to remember that cup win. The only major trophy we've won in my lifetime and I was too bastard young to remeber it. I was only 2 ffs bloody typical :evil::evil:

Good on her mate

When we mam and dad were ‘courting’ as they did in those days me dad once took me mam to the match. She asked which one was Sunderland, needless to say, he never took her back. :lol:
But he got his own back brainwashing his daughters :lol:
