Just seen on the news about the tornadoes in the US and got me thinking! Any on here been involved in something like that or an earthquake, only thing i have seen is a whirlpool going off, which was quite a site and pretty scary!

had to batter down the hatches in Barbados once buit it only lasted 3-4 hours and was happy having a few beers watching it...

not quite tornado level but didn't half leave a mess in the gardens and pool area...

I flew into Florida about 6/7 years ago now on the day a hurricane hit. Thankfully wasn't in the air when it hit, and the power of it was great to witness from a safe place.

Continued through the night and when we woke up there were massive trees snapped in half like they were tiny branches.

Drove down the highway a few days later and loads of 60ft tall lamp posts were completely bent over with the lights almost touching the floor.

I remember when git hard winds blew through the North-East, flattening fences and snapping the odd branch off a tree.
Also, the odd torrential downpour.

It's not very exciting, is it?

I was in Cairns when Cyclone Yasi hit. Asked the locals what the best thing to do. They said that there wasn't a lot you could do... just get drunk and wait for it to finish.

So we bought plenty of supplies (beer, vodka and Subway sarnies) and had a cyclone party.

Cyclone was a bit of a let down to be honest

My sister's a f***ing Jonah, she's found hersself in every natural event and terrorist situation imaginable. I wouldn't go on holiday with her.

She's seen to robbers shot outside the cafe window in South America, she was sat opposite the Marriott in Jakarta when the front got blown off by a suicide bomber, and countless others. Couple of weeks ago she was on a Thomson flight to Egypt when terrorists called in a bomb warning on a Thomson flight to Egypt. Different flight though, can only assume they got the wrong plane.

Anyway, aye, she was in Lima a few years ago when that huge earthquake hit. We got a teary phonecall from her hotel at 1am saying that the corridor was rippling up and down like water then the phones went dead were 36 hours, we were beside ourselves.

Anyway, she got in touch a couple days later, apparently they'd been airlifted out, an evacution which took them to Quitoin Ecuador, on the Eastern slope of an active stratovolcano...

I got absolutely soaked walking to the pub in Beadnell.

Oh, probably the same day.

I remember it raining really heavy once and I had to rush out and get our lasses washing in!! (she was down the town)...

Nothing really bad for me - maybe a some bad snow and minus 26 degrees temps where a lot of the homeless people froze to death.

One of the lads on here Brisbenview was close to the floods in Oz recently I think

Mother Earth she's on overload
one war more and she might explode
we gotta look back and see our love from the past
we got time to change but it's running out fast

Good god i hope both parties involved got through it unscathed.

Mother nature can be a cruel mistress.

Big dust storm in Egypt and I was at a conference at Iguassu Falls once (a sacrifice I had to make) when a massive storm came over and blew the conference room windows open - that was more comedy than anything though.

Why "one war more" when "one more war" is better English and scans exactly the same? I will have to revise my opinion of Tony Mortimer, lyricist, now.

Luckily! No one was injured, I'm made of pretty stern stuff and I've stood on the top deck of a bus before (unaided) so got through this ordeal without to much distress!.

Once seen a geet wass wave on the cat and dogs steps, It was a sight to behold.

Hurrican Ike is my only experience of really rough weather.

We could hear trees falling all around us overnight, but all of them missed us.

The hiouse two doors down was cut in half by a 100ft pine tree landing on it.

I have some photos somewhere, I should post them.
