Most Championship points after 20 games

It’s not even sour grapes but if you told me Ipswich would have that start after the first game of the season I’d have laughed my head off. I thought they were pretty average and lucky to get anything from that game let alone a win. Wonder how things would have gone for them if they deflection hadn’t gone in.

Only way they stop now is if they sack McKenna and bring in Rooney 🤣

It was sustainable for us when Keane took over
It was sustainable for Kompany last season
We just need to stay in the playoffs and do as well as we can
Just for some context/comparison, in our previous 3 seasons at this level, our points totals after 20 games were…

22/23 - 27 points - finished 6th
17/18 - 14 points - finished 24th
06/07 - 27 points - finished 1st

We’re currently on 30, so if KLD and Speakman get this appointment right, we could still have a decent season if the new guy hits the ground running.

They'd have 2-3 points less.

Not sure what you mean by this bit? In the first 21 games of Roy Keane’s spell as manager we won 10, drew 4, and lost 7. It’s not a million miles away from our current form, and it’s a long way from the form of the top 2 this season. We then had an unbelievable run after new year which got us promoted - 16 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat. We didn’t have 40 games of sustainable 2.5 points per game after Keane took over - nowhere near.

Felt like we were winning every game but that’s just my sentimental feeling I suppose. I thought the facts would back me up but cba to check!
He took us from the bottom of the champo to promotion - so our form must have been pretty good

Yeah, I know, looking back it always feels like from the moment he walked in until the end of the season, we were flying, but it wasn’t really like that. He got a new manager bounce, and we finished like a train, but the bit in the middle was pretty average. After his first 2 games we were 14th, after his next 19 games we were still only 12th. Then the run started.
