Most away fans at Wear/Tyne Derby?

How does this compare to games in the 70s-90s.

Even if percentage of the ground as opposed to volume of away fans.

I've been told we've had more and they've had more in the past on Tuesday when I suggested the amount they were getting to a friend.

Be interesting to know how true that is considering the size of the grounds pre SOL and Landfill upgrades.

Pretty sure there was 100k stuffed into Roker Park
I mean I was 5 when they knocked it down so I might have believed it then as I would have had no concept of a thousand let alone 100k.

It's of interest as I was basically told to accept an entire stand of mags cos we'd had a stand at the landfill and them Roker.

Must have been back in the 50’s etc. rivalry wasn’t anywhere near as fierce and both clubs had some monster gates.

This 6000k in the SOL is the most significant though due to the circumstances and it will be a bizarre sight seeing that whole stand in black and white.

We had way more in 1979. They had loads in 1980. I don’t think any since have had more than 6k
Cheers.

Well there's plenty on here old enough to have witnessed those days.

So just interested to know how generational the anger is RE this decision.

We used to regularly take 6-10k to each others grounds in those days. Wonder if everybody pissed their pants for being moved or just got on with it…
The truncated Roker held approx 6k and they would have the whole end in the mid 80s/early 90s til we moved grounds - obv except when away fans were banned.

What’s done is done and let’s just make as much noise as possible from our supporters.

They got an extra 1,400 tickets, 4,400 (total) in the South Stand back in the 15 point 2005/06 season.
