More investment incoming from new owner

Sustainable has been the word used a number of times. Im really optimistic about the future but I don't think people should expect us to be spunking tens of millions on players anytime soon.
Would not want to be doing this, it is obscene to spend huge amounts of money on a player

Still used? As much as they used to be? So how has the pitch been in such a state, far worse than any other season since the stadium opened?

The lights made a huge difference between the last two games, I'm guessing the pitch maintenance budget overall has had to be slashed and it will have been longer since we last changed it completely than usual, causing it to become more dense and reducing the drainage rate.

Can’t see the problem with wheels like if the go on flat tracks and get moved around can’t cause that much damage surely unless the weigh a tonne

Yes I believe the pitch hasn’t been changed for about 3 seasons now.

I have no idea if they are used the same amount, but they are still used, you can see the glow if you pass the stadium at night.

The pitch is noticeably worse I agree. I presume this is down to one or more of the following reasons (I do not know which)
- Lots more rain
- Less gap between matches than normal seasons
- Lights used less
- Ground staff furloughed or made redundant

Again and again see it repeated on here that the lights have gone and it's just not true, not matter how much you dislike Donald.
Peterborough pitch is far worse than ours.
And they will get more light due to the stands. A lot of pitches are abysmal this year, had lots of rain and less rest in between matches must be a factor.

It’s nice to see that someone at the top cares again. He’s just going about this quietly and letting things like this do the talking. Donald and co had 3 podcasts and a question and answer session on talk sport by now when they took over, most of it all false promises.

You look back now at the people they turned out to be. They sat there in those early days, knowing they had used the club's own money to finalise the deal for the club (but not letting on), knowing that their plan was to flip the club within a year, taking the positive publicity, offering jobs and Big Macs to fawning podcasts. They must have been pissing themselves laughing at us at that stage when they realised fans were offering to refurb the stadium for free.

I agree with you about KLD, I'm not interested in words, just actions, and early signs look quietly really positive.

I wonder what happened to the grow lights we used to have. I appreciate they were on wheels not rails across the pitch but I remember seeing them for the first time on a stadium tour many years ago, we were one of the first clubs in the country to have them.

Donald probably sold them to Madrox for £5 or something.

they were fenced off outside the roker end last week when i was there

Well at least one of those reasons isn't a factor - the pitch was at its worst after the Covid enforced break in games. We'd played less on it compared to other seasons. Rainfall has been a bit higher than average, but nothing like as bad as, for example, December 2015 or February 2020, and this season has been the only time I have noticed a problem with our pitch (I've missed a single figures number of games since it was laid).

So the state of the pitch seems like it can only be down to management decisions under Stewart Donald, no matter how much you seek to defend him.

Hoefully he has got fellow countryman Jean Michel Jarre waiting in the wings to do a music and laser show before our next night game when crowds are back. Then we'll know if he is serious or not about bringing back the light!

This is the kind of investment I was hoping for. At the moment, it's not needed to throw cash at players. The infrastructure is the biggest thing, and improving everything within and creating higher standards.

Once we are back, hoping money is ploughed in to the match day experience. Would love for us to support more local businesses, get local brewery beers on etc.
