I said it was a probable red. Either way, you hate a good sunderland player. It's a bit weird that like.
A nice way of saying he lost control of the ball.
He's 24 now, and could play his role until he's 34. He seems to have had a long time, but if he learns by the time he's 26, he could be a good midfielder for another eight years.
He seems to have cut out the really vicious side of his game now, and is all the better for it. Who's to say he won't be able to remove these silly challenges from his game?
Its not weird
I think we could be a far better team without him
Just don't think someone of his style is actually required anymore
The difference being, Scholes' tackling is always laughed off. "Haha little scholesey, he's never been able to tackle has he?"
Makes me sucking sick![]()
He is not dirty - he is just very slow, has terrible control and is totally thick
All of which combine to make him a f***ing knacker who gets into more trouble than its worth
Thank The Lord for that. Some one on the SMB knows what the hell they're talking about!
He made a good run with the ball, it got slightly ahead of him and he tried to redeem himself with the challenge. Wasn't nasty or owt, just a bit over zealous, still a probable red mind. Some of the comments on here are a bit pathetic tbh. Why do supporters have to have a hate figure when theres nowt really to hate?![]()
Scholes has been sent off 3 times more than Cattermole since 2001/02
considering some of the tackles Scholes has got away with it boggles the mind.

He's still our best central midfielder, he just isn't captain material imo. Needs a sensible, even old experienced head, alongside him.
When was that then ?
We'd not f***ing won until he got sent off tonight
It's not though is it - genericus points out up there he's been sent off plenty. It's only the pillocks like Hansen and Linekar and Sherarse who come out with that shite
Not exactly a fair comparison seeing as Cattermole will have been only 13 or 14 in 2001.
Aye but, to be fair, Scholes is/was the best English midfielder of his generation. He couldn't tackle very well but literally every other aspect of his game was top notch.
Because their more brain dead than Cattermole.
its the game they play, they are midfield enforcers if you will, as much as i hate the term, Scholes, Keane, Cattermole are tough tackling mid fielders whos aim is to break up play, get the ball to the more attacking players, they are going to be more susceptible to getting Red Cards because of the more physical style of their play, they harry, they get the ball by hook or crook and distribute it to the players who are better on the ball.
The difference between them players and Catts despite the obvious step up in ability is they got forward and scored, but look at the like of Makelele, Viera, Cambiasso, Marcos Senna and Gattuso were prone to stupid rash tackles and getting sent off, were never prolific for midfielders but are revered for how they played.
Amazing what a foreign name can do for a players reputation, if any of those played here the precious twats on here would be having kittens
its th only stats i can find, most seem to start in 2003
