Moeen Ali on the Fifty Over ODIs

I'm surprised he doesn't love the 50 over format, it gives the time and space for his scratchy scruffy batting technique to accumulate some actual runs while not in so much of a hurry.

For all the commentators drool over his occasional perfectly timed 6s, he spends a lot of time mistiming and leading edging and nurdling for singles. Maybe his shitty technique is more exposed in a longer format.

Averages 25 in ODI (50 with the ball) and 19 in T20I. Most overrated player we have got.

Few people misunderstanding what Ali is saying here. He doesn't think it's the 'long boring format' he's saying that's how it's being treated by the boards and he's worried its being phased out.

And he's right. As predicted by everybody, apart from a few 16.4 acolytes, when the RLC was downgraded.
