Mobile mystery?

I live in a valley and have no mobile signal. If I climb the hill behind my house (20 minute climb) I can get 2 bars, otherwise it's a drive out 3 miles in any direction.

I'm having a coffee Thursday when the mobile rings...someone selling stuff. Phoned a mate, yep it's true, I'm connected. Then I noticed I had 4 bars. I looked up reception for my village and it said what it always says...NONE! So what the hell has happened? Does anyone on here work in this field?

They'd work shifts mate. Not 8 or 12 hours obviously, the mental health implications would see to that. More like an hour at a time like other vibrating tools.
