They were shite, and are still shocking.
216How many more groups do you reckon are like these guys?
A duo that couldnt sing, didnt write their own music and were basically there to look good in the music videos.

I can't imagine the size of the 2 bigger lasses who sang this if these are the 2 models for the video who are clearly lip syncing!OP has nailed it, the bigger lasses always sang the dance anthems in the day. They were always replaced on top of the pops by the skinny lasses who mimed.
I Got The Power, ne ne ne na na na.
Those boys were hung out to dry by the music industry. Such practices have been common since the 1960s.How many more groups do you reckon are like these guys?

Re released it 2 year after original kid and forever took the gloryAled Jones didn’t sing the snowman single iirc
Slightly different scenario but Plastic Bertrand didn't sing Ça Plane Pour Moi or any of the first two albums but sang on subsequent ones.
More bizarrely, though, Bernard Jewry, (Alvin Stardust) was in the right place at the right time twice! He was roadie for a band called Shane Fenton and The Fentones who had sent demos off to the BBC. The BBC took a while to get in touch, wanting to play their demos but in the meantime, the real Shane Fenton had died aged just 17. Jewry stepped in for him and they had a couple of minor hits.
About 12 years later a bloke by the name of Peter Shelley wrote and recorded a song under the name of Alvin Stardust, which started to climb the charts and when Top Of The Pops wanted to put the song on, Shelley decided he didn't want to be a pop star so contacted his manager who also managed Jewry and they created the Alvin Stardust image. He mimed to Shelley's recording on TOTP then sang on all of the subsequent Stardust hits.
If you listen to Coo Ca Choo, it's a completely different voice to the likes of Red Dress.
Luckiest bloke in the music industry, twice over!![]()
I never got that anyway cos Ya was much better looking than Felly, (I thought it might have just been a typo but you called her Nelly twice, so I'm assuming it wasn't).Just remembered Technotronic it wasn't Nelly that was singing Pump Up The Jam but rather the tom boy looking lass Ya Kid K
She then appeared in the next single;s video up front with Nelly in background, both classic bass tunes

Which Oasis songs sound like Beatles songs. Given that I've only listened to the two that are worth listening two(1st two)The Gallagher brothers given they just copied Beatles songs and Liam's singing sounds like someone dragging a chair across a wooden floor but loads of lads like @dangermows think he looks cool?
Marni Nixon dubbed Audrey Hepburn's vocals for the film of current theatre favourite My Fair Lady and she's Andrew Gold's mam.It is very common and always has been. Before music videos, before even pop music, singing in musical films was overdubbed by proper singers. Marni Nixon, for example, dubbed some of the most acclaimed female singing roles from 1950 onwards and often went uncredited.
Milli Vanilli is probably only time anybody has really given a shit about it. It's a bit weird when you think about it.
Their two hits were superb bits of pop music. By whoever put them together. How many more groups do you reckon are like these guys?
