Once while in Australia, Denness received an envelope that had been sent with the address "Mike Denness, cricketer". The letter inside read, "Should this reach you, the post office clearly thinks more of your ability than I do."

Oh dear.

Was looking for his captaincy record, it only says W6 D5 L8, and since 1W and 4L were in Aus in 74/75 that's not too shabby actually, although I think series against NZ and India weren't too taxing in those days. Didn't he draw the series in the Windies in 74?
