"Migrating" at half time

Was stopped by a steward at half time walking along the concourse to the North Stand, (the one with all of the empty seats) cos I fancied a different view of the game.
The very zealous, 70+, 5ft 3", steward was trying to check everyone's ticket before letting them pass. He said it was new club policy..."No migrating seats at half time"
The sight of him chasing and trying to prevent a 6ft 6" pissed up fan getting to his seat was something you don't see often.
Not sure why the club would have such a policy - what harm does it do?
They’ll blame covid of course but since the Chuckle Brothers arrived the match day experience has worsened with rules and regulations particularly in Quinns bar with those wristbands. The club staff must hate having to police this type of things at it looks bad on them when in fact it’s not the 70+, 5ft 3” stewards fault. It’s those who are telling them what to do.

they do cause bother though mate. It happens every game and it’s impacting people in the lower tier. If they actually attempted to support the team, folk wouldn’t care but they spend the full 45 mins with their back to the game doing stupid signs to the away fans 50 metres away.

Also the stupid little sods are now acting themselves outside of the away end

A diddums..it sounds absolutely horrendous that like. Those poor souls who had to witness that
not really, as the steward would have been told to do that by the club. The reality is; you can’t keep letting kids congregate behind a goal on a walkway. Its one thing if they want to sit together in a empty seat, but just standing on a walkway, pointing at the away fans was always going to get them noticed 😂

The fact a group rush to chuck abuse at away fans after the game doesn’t help their cause either 😂

Oh no they are blocking the walk way! The humanity! I amazed anyone got out of the ground alive.

Jesus Christ, our fans man.

It was the way in which the steward handled the situation. Being quite aggressive to young kids is not the way to go on surely? I witnessed the whole thing and at no point did the lads in question give the steward any grief. I understand he was more than likely acting on instructions by the club but the way in which he went about it was out of order in my opinion.

Fair dos mate. He shouldn’t have been a dick.

I do feel sorry for them tbh, but unless they get together and arrange something, they are always going to be shifted by the stewards. Plus, acting like a dick will always get you noticed 😂

We're SC holders in the north stand and now and again find people doing this and sat in our seats for the start of second half.

Knackers.
Just ask them to move. I have a season ticket in the west stand with a couple of mates and there are no empty seats near where we sit. However my son doesn’t so when he can make the games he gets a ticket in the north stand and I go and sit with him. Quite often it’s trial and error and we have to move until we find 2 empty seats. Most people just say that’s my seat mate and we move but there are some miserable twats love to make a whole song and dance about it, tutting and shaking heads.. pathetic

I always migrate round at half time to the NE corner in midweek games so that i'm closer to the metro and get away early to get back to North Shields. I did see people being stopped midweek, luckily I got through no bother. Don't see why it makes a difference. Maybe if it's a group of young lads going round trying to cause trouble then yeah but pointless when it comes down to it from the average fan.

Me and my son were stopped - we sometimes move to the North Stand at half time as it is better for our return home and almost always the lads are attacking that end in the second half. We have "regular" empty seats but would obviously just move if they belonged to anybody. Wouldn't dream of doing it if the ground was busy.

The old fellah was really cranky, obnoxious and a little confrontational. He had a younger steward who was a bit more pleasant and he started talking about a bomb incident at Liverpool as the reason for doing it. I asked what incident and he started dealing with somebody else (the recent hospital one perhaps?). We just sat a bit further round the bowl, but if we had a mind to we could have got to the regular seats by walking along the rows themselves.

It achieved nothing other than antagonising people and if you really want to move you can do it by a different route in any case.
Can you not just walk through the concourses?
There is a wall at the north west corner of the concourses

I did exactly that on Saturday. Watched the first half in the South Stand and then met up with a pal in the NE corner for the second half. It makes zero difference surely? There's 30'000 empty seats in the place ffs
We've got a 60,000 seater stadium? Someone tell the Mags they need to extend.

God loves a pedant. Obviously I'm going off the observation that the 'official' attendance of 26'000 was somewhat liberal in its accuracy. There was barely 20k there on sat (in my estimation) and even less on Tuesday

Part if it will be based on varying ticket prices around the stadium, another reason will be to track individuals in case of banning orders etc, 3rd reason will be the kids being more obsessed with looking up at the away fans etc
