Mignolet set to return

Daft injuries?

He was played when not fit by Keane, put him out for months.
He had his arm broken by Defoe, put out for months.
He had the plate removed, arm broken again put him out for months.
He had tendinitis in his knee and was played when unfit putting him out for a year.

I'd say he has been badly managed more than anything.

People bang on about him being 'injury prone', yet he has had just 4 injuries in his time here, it's just unlucky that they seem to be serious when he gets them. Players like Mensah are injury prone. Brown, O'Shea and Richardson have missed numerous games this season, should we ship them for being injury prone?

Yes Mignolet is only 23, and yes he is likely to improve. Will he be better than Gordon in the future? He might be, he certainly has the potential. But we are not a club who is able to afford potential in such a key area. Gordon is the better keeper right now, so he is the 1 we should be playing and trying our upmost to keep at the club.

We spent £8m on 'potential' last summer in Wickham. He is only 19, yet some have written him off already. Mignolet has potential but should be given games no matter what.

Strange place this board at times.
This x 10000000000000000000000000000000000000

Well done sir for actually having eyes

spot on - injury free at Hearts - and by god there are some cloggers up here that can endanger a keeper. He has his faults like most keepers - which get examined and exaggerated many times over, but he is a top keeper at his best and it will be a huge loss for us if he goes.

Mignolet MAY become great, he certainly isn't yet - no other position gets spoken about the way keepers do - "play him and he'll improve" - are we a f*cking charity? That's what loans are for and reserve matches. How many lost games or draws-that-we-should've-won do we put up with waiting for him to become good enough??

If we don't keep Gordon we will need to buy another keeper or Ellis will NOT get his top six finish next year.

I like Mignolet and Gordon. They are both good keepers. Shock! Horror!

If Gordon is still here next season then he WILL be No. 1 there is no doubt about it.

He is the much better keeper out of the 2, maybe harsh on Mig cos he hasn't really done owt wrong but thats just the way it is.

then mig will leave for a top german side..
westwood will start the season as no 1 when gordons, knee, ankle, wrist,or elbow collapses in pre season friendly, david james signs as emergency cover

Like who ? Hes a average keeper all of the teams above us have better keepers but Mignolet would be off to a top German team

No he isn't. He won't be first choice next year regardless of whether or not Gordon is at the club

I think he will be. He's improving all the time and has earned the right to be the clubs No.1 I ve not been his biggest fan in the past but he has been good this season. Goalkeeper is not a priority area to strengthen. I can't see both Westwood and Gordon being away TBH

Shocking if true. Gordon must have only played to show potention suitors that he's fit and ready to play.

He was class against Bolton. I'm not a big Mignolet fan at all.

If the quote is true then for me its the first small crack in my confidence in MON. Hardly MON out but if Ellis wants top six it wont happen with Mignolet in goal in 2012-13.

Doesn't really matter why Gordon has been out injured so much, he just has. Whether it's because he's injury prone or because he's unlucky is irrelevant when he has missed as many games as he has.

You're talking as if Mignolet has been an utter shambles and playing him will result in certain relegation. Yet facts don't back that up.

Gordon: 21 clean sheets in 95 starts
Mignolet: 22 clean sheets in 55 starts.

Gordon might be the better all round keeper now but due to Mignolet's age and potential should not be relegated to back up, at the risk of losing him, to accommodate Gordon when Mignolet has proved to be more than capable as first choice (despite him having a long way to go before he is the finished article).

Gordon was in goal when we had the likes of f***ing Nyron, Halford , Collins , McShane etc its not just a keeper that keeps them the defence play their part aswel
