Even if it did not say much, the takeover announcement says "I have paid off all debts owed by the club to leave it financially strong and debt free for the first time since years before I owned it"

The club will be debt free when the take over is completed (at least for the time that the switch-over happens), but if we don't get shot of the likes of Chodwell then it wont last long.

How do you know the people that have bought the club haven't had to loan money from the bank to buy it? I'm not saying they have, I have no idea.

Doesn't mean the club will be debt free under the new owners though does it? It might be debt free it might not be, at present nobody knows unless there is information out there I am unaware of.
That's all I was saying.
In Ellis Short's final club statement he says he is leaving the club debt free for the first time since he arrived at the club. The Spanish utilities company and the American bank will fund the club going forward.

Why you getting yaself all worked up over this? We’re 2 leagues below, dont worry about it, for now.

You seem very interested and vocal in this takeover business
I am interested but I would be interested if it was West Ham take over or any other take over. Wouldn't say I have been that vocal on it, the only two points I can think of I have made are I would be surprised if short paid off the debt out of the goodness of his heart and that the new owners may have had to loan money for the purchase. Might have said something else but that's all that springs to mind.

That may be the case but then again the American bank might be loaning the consortium the money not making an investment. Don't know if they are just saying they might be.

Two points? You've practically been on every thread about it since Sunday man!

One of the few things I have learned since the takeover is that Short really paid the debt off up front and out of his own pocket. 100%.
I posted yesterday that I was talking to someone who was told this Saturday morning. Absolutely no reason not to believe him and fits with what you are saying.

I 100% believe Short has paid off the debt and that he isn't the spawn of satan some on here would have us believe him to be.
What puzzles me slightly is how this squares up to FFP? Isn't the point of these rules to stop rich people throwing money at their playthings?
