Wouldn't surprise me if we promote Murty. I reckon that's why he been brought in personally.
I'd maybe expect them to go for more of a McKenna, Beale type appointment. Maybe back for Enzo Maresca (someone we've looked at a few times IIRC). It wasn't the right time to go for that type of potential with where things were. Once we establish, flesh out the squad and settle things down we should be in a better position to do that sort of thing.

Aye could do. Think there's more to Murty coming here than just to be under 21's manager.

Just saying that's what i think the reasoning is behind his appointment Speakman said we want a coach who fits into our bullet points of what formation we want to play and how to play. I think we'll promote from within.
Think that is absolutely critical if you're in a player development position, though. Got to have that alignment so we're developing the right type of player. Not saying they won't to be fair, but I kinda expect Mowbray to reach a natural end with SAFC at the end of a season (where he'll gracefully move aside) rather than being booted. In that scenario its probably unlikely that we'll go with Murty unless he absolutely excels at SAFC in the mean time.

I can't see Mowbray lasting longer than end next season personally.

Yeah, know what you mean, I would just like to see it not be Murty, im not a fan of him at all but i do get why he works with the U21 as he has done that in the past

Ah, don't get me wrong, i would be gutted if he was appointed personally
I liked that Rob Edwards before he went to Watford but see how he does wherever he goes next

I do think TM has been brought in to steady the ship keep us up this season and anything else is a bonus and maybe season after next, he moves on or upwards and we bring in a good young hungry coach and as you said before with some money in the bank due to sales of a couple of these lads we have now

Wouldn't surprise me if Mowbray stepped down at end of this season. Brought in just to steady the ship for this season?

Time will tell I reckon cos he obviously gets the club and knows what it's doing so if someone was available to work under him and can better the players then can see him agreeing to it

TM has been brought in to provide stability and he will nurture and develop our young talent. I hope that he's here for years-it will mean that we are doing well. It's all about incremental progress-We finished 5th in Division 3 last season, after 4 years! Trust Tony.

I'm not saying don't trust him, just think he won't be here long.

I can.
Minimum yearly spend ticking over as a club with a potential one good player sale and mowbray treading water to wrestle 13th position of Preston North End.
Job done.

why would mowbray regard that as job dpne? it would be a considerable drop down compared to where he was even last season..? why would he take a shitter role than he had ;last season?
And safc are among the highest spenders in this league,..the owners are spending way above the minimum.

Cattermole potentially getting the job is triggering a meltdown of epic proportions with Boro fans. Me included tbf.
It would seem a massive risk but then again Carrick is equally unproven but with a bit more coaching experience. Every appointment is a risk although I would have thought Edwards was the best choice. Cattermole seems to be one of those fingers crossed appointment that would be done mainly because its cheap.

After the disaster of Woodgate I cannot believe Gibson would make another internal appointment with zero experience. By all accounts a few people have recommended Carrick. Gibson likes Cattermole because he has a teesside accent.

We are bottom 3 in the championship ffs and you appoint Lee Cattermole?? The poor decision making shocks me. Hopefully it's bollocks.
