Remember that summer when Bruce did most of his shopping from the clubs who had just been relegated? We ended up with most of a squad that knew nothing but relegation battles. Hardly ideal for a club wanting to avoid all that shit.

It's mainly the mindset I'm worried about.
Wasn't Roy Keane in a relegation battle with forest when he left for United? And he's the one player/ex-player id take in any battle! I understand if it's someone who's been repetitively relegated but Richards has been in one Relegation battle in his career hasn't he?

If Richards can't do a job at right back which was his original position then there's no hope.
Any fucker should be able to play right back, it's the easiest position to play on the park.
I predict Richards bombing down that right hand side will end up a hero to the SOL hordes.

So the first 2 new faces in this summer are NZogbia and Richards.

Nowt ever changes. We're gonna struggle like fuck yet again.

He's an absolute bomb scare at centre back, would be an atrocious signing.

Desperately desperately hope this is all made up bollocks

So was Kaboul until he played in a settled defence and had a manager that could actually coach players, Villa were a shambles.
The fact Allardyce was after him in January is a positive sign.

Because Richards is a better player and provides cover at centre back

Is he really? Looked shite last season at Villa. If Yedlin is available for a similar price, its a no brainer for me, younger with loads of scope to improve and seems to have a great attitude. Plus he is used to playing alongside Kone, Kaboul and PVA, he would hit the ground running.

That's one season though, form is temporary.
Sometimes players, for whatever reason (Villa being shite on this occasion) just don't work at certain clubs. Doesn't mean they're useless.

Giaccherini is a perfect example, not a bad player at all, just not suited to us.

Hinges on whether Moyes can get him motivated again. The talent is there but the attitude is questionable.

Although quite easy, you have to be as fit as a butchers dog to get up and down for 90minutes and be able to think for the full 90 when probably physically fucked.
We could make worse less trusted signings than Richards, but he has to be hungry cos last years version of him was gash

Out of curiosity, would people turn down Robbie Brady? Relegated twice in the last two seasons. Andros Townsend was relegated last season but some on here wanted to sign him before he went to Palace. How many of us were hoping we'd get Charlie Austin last summer?
