Metro delays - Sunderland line

Nexus seem to be pinning all of their hopes on the new trains to solve the issues. But the trains are probably far less of a problem than the others; lack of drivers, line theft, passenger behaviour, strikes, poor quality track

Considered giving up the car at one point, and tested using it for a short while to get to Felling.

I still kept the car! Was constant late for meetings, and some days I even gave up and went back home to work. Might have caught it on a bad fortnight, but it was nowhere near reliable.
the bairn uses it every day to get to school, in the last 3 & half years i think i've had help her out twice with a dad taxi service (mind covid probably took out 3/4 of one year... however, we live near Pelaw.

exactly this... new trains won't help driver shortages, wind or the local pikeys...

The fact that someone felt the need to create the parody Twitter account ‘Metro Apologises’ should tell you everything you need to know about the service really.

Saying that, I’ve hardly used it in like 10 year or so.

Use it 4 days a week and find it fairly reliable tbh. Was expecting it to be way worse the way the wailing fannies on here gan on about it.
Used it on Wednesday and you could argue there weren't any issues apart from the fact I had to walk to Park Lane and then there was a 24 minute service instead of a 12 minute one. And that's probably the most reliable it's been for weeks from reading the Twitter feed.
It's got steadily worse over the years and I'm glad I now work from home four days a week.

Increased the budget by c£1m on improving system security (for passenger safety sadly not infrastructure that keeps getting pinched), employing more drivers to aid the training transition to the new fleet and I've written to Jesus to see what he can do about the wind ;)
Whilst much of the criticism here is fair as the reliability hasn't been to the required standard it's a very challenging time for all transport operators. As with the majority of transport providers Metro is subsidised so there's always never enough funding to do everything you'd want to.
Wish I was getting a 13% pay rise!?!

Revised timetable today - reduced service due to maintenance works (I take it the Maggots aren't playing at home today) 😖
