Metro 2019

You not tempted? How many days a week do metro drivers work? Serious question btw.

Got two young kids and a lot of the jobs involve shifting/getting digs a few days of the week so not at the minute.

We work a four day 36 hour week. It's not the amount of days we work that's so bad in comparison with other rail operators though, it's the type of shifts we do when we're here.

That, combined the fact that all other drivers are paid more for doing an easier job, is persuading a lot to look elsewhere.

£35k+ but £67k for Virgin on 4 days a week

A lot are leaving for trans pennine n'all which pay upwards of 50k.

Fair do’s, always an option when the bairns get older. And you’d get to drive proper trains!

Sounds about right - different jobs though.
But same in principle - being totally responsible for transporting people from A to B in a safe manner.

Could be argued that virgin drivers have an easier job TBH. They're not involved with punters at all whereas we often are. They have less signals to deal with so less chance of having an incident/making a mistake. Their trains are much more sophisticated which make them easier to drive. And they still have guards which takes away the risk of being responsible for trap and drags.

All things which metro drivers are responsible for which obviously increases the risk.

And I've not even gone into the shifts...

That's the dream mate. Instead of the fucked up trams we ferry about according to some...
