Because he's a arrogant little bell end who pretends to be humble but throws his toys out the pram every season to get a higher wage, because 350k a week just isn't enough for him. His greed has forced him to leave the club who give him everything and made him the player he is. He has always said if he ever left Barca he would only ever play for newells old boys, but when it came down to it he went to the highest bidder.
He agreed to a 50% pay cut and agreed to sign spread the 2 years of his contract over 5 years. Under Spanish law he couldn't work for less than 50% of his previous contract, so playing for free was out of the question. Also, Barca are over their wage limit. They can't register any new signings.

PSG were the only club to offer him a contract.

Is he? I've never met him.

Hes one of the best footballers on the planet and is paid accordingly. Barca aren't in financial difficulty for paying Lionel Messi, they're in the shit for spending £100m plus and £300k+ a week wages on players who haven't delivered the goods who they wouldn't be able to recoup that financial outlay on and are either unwilling to take a pay cut themselves or accept a transfer.

Greed? He agreed a 50% wage cut to stay on, the league rules then prevented him signing it (and Spanish law from agreeing to a further cut) because some of the other incredibly well paid players weren't willing to cut their wage/accept a transfer to help the club. Umtiti was booed at a pre season friendly for this.

Were NOB even in for him? It seemed the only realistic move was PSG, because despite being 34 hes still at the peak of his game (just like Ronaldo...) and still wants to mix it in the CL. I'd imagine he'll have had offers from China, the middle east or the MLS, but like Ronaldo hes a winner who still has plenty to offer in Europe.

Its a complete irrational dislike, I find it surreal.

Didn't take him long to wipe his tears away and sign that new contract...and some people feel sorry for him

It’s mental that people think he should go somewhere to test himself as if he somehow needs to prove himself despite being one of the best players in the world for about 15 years.
In what other job would you have people criticise a bloke who’s shown time and time again he’s the best for not taking a lower wage to “test himself”.
You’ve even got people calling him greedy for not playing for free when he legally couldn’t and offered to reduce his wages the maximum he could.

50%? And he only agreed to it when they were in the shit. He’s a greedy bugger who’s took the greedy bugger option by going to the highest bidder. People hate on Ronaldo for being flash, at least he’s open about it. Messi tries to play it like he’s mr humble and an every man, he could have picked any team in the planet to play for and test himself in a truly exciting league but chose to go to the team who has agreed to pay him the 35 million a year he accustomed to.

They’re not though are they? Chelsea are the holders and about to sign Lukaku. They also beat PSG comfortably last season.

They are the favourites with the bookies.

They have added the best full-back in the world, one of the best goalkeepers in the world and now Messi. As well as Ramos, a serial winner, and Wijnaldum who is a tidy midfielder in a position they were short of backup.

PSG didn't play Chelsea last season; they played City. And were missing Mbappe; and just didn't have the strength in depth needed to cover the loss of him & Gueye.

It’s not that I dislike him, I just wanted more from him in terms of how he tests himself. Going to the French league after finally leaving Barca is a monumental let down. He could have tested himself against Chiellini, Bonucci etc in Italy or any number of world class players in the Prem but has chosen to play in a poor league. Seemingly cos they would pay the most. What a waste.

Which Italian clubs were in for him? From whats being reported PSG were the only club with a serious interest in the player.

You’re not getting it. It’s not that he’s not proven himself. It’s that it would be exciting to see him do it in another top level league. Where’s the excitement in seeing him do it against a team Sunderland could beat in the French league?

Due to him demanding so much in wages, no one could afford him. So he’s greedy. PSG would pay the 35 million a year in wages.

You don't seem to be grasping that PSG were seemingly the only club in for him.

And the bolded bit is hilarious.

Hes one of the two best players ever, hes not going to play for £30k a week and a Twix is he?! Mental.
Because he demanded so much in wages.

Greed.

Because hes a top player who is paid accordingly.

If Messi is greedy what does that make Bale? On £600k a week at RM and seemingly completely uninterested in playing?

Hilarious. 35 million a year to 30k a week. Now you’re being silly. And missing the point. Again.

Italy have just won the world cup and most of there players, play in the italian leagues. Milan, Napoli, Atalanta, Juve, Inter, Roma etc are all still a higher standard than the teams in Ligue 1. One of the reasons PSG have struggled to go all the way in the champions league over the last few years is due to lack of competition in the league.
France won the World Cup in 2018.

France won the World Cup in 2018. Nine of the their players were playing in Ligue 1. The majority of them played in Ligue 1 at some stage. They had players from PSG, Monaco, Marseille and Lyon. I think there has been 4 different winners of Ligue 1 in the last 10 years. In the last 2 seasons PSG made it to a final and a semi-final. Lyon got to a semi-final knocking out Juventus and Man City on the way.

PSG banked rolled by Qatar who have a horrendous human rights record, yet that doesn't seen to stop the likes of SKY and the rest of the MSM from pissing their pants over them..

Talk about double standards :oops::oops:

But I'm not, if Messi is such a greedy bastard for being Barcelonas best ever player and one of the two best players on the planet at the minute and being paid accordingly, what is Gareth Bale for collecting £600k a week but seemingly having no desire to play?

You dislike Messi so are using any old irrational shite as a stick to beat him with.
