The more this unravels I think this has been the plan for months. If he renewed before his deal expired then he could have stayed at barca, they knew that.

There was a report months ago that ramos told Madrid he was off and him and messi were going to Paris. I woukdnt be surprised if they did it this way to save the clubs image with fans as they tried their best and saves his image with the barca fans as being forced out.

Let's face it, I like barca but he's joining a far better squad equipped to win things in his final years.
I think there is some truth to that. Barcelona and Messi have known for months, it would be more than difficult to get a deal done.
And still Barcelona have signed several players, Aguero, Eric Garcia and Depay notably. They must have known that they might very well not be able to re-sign Messi.
I think they opted for quality and numbers rather than spending it all on Messi.

Yup and easier to blame la liga who all the fans hate anyway rather than be truthful.

Theyve gave each other everything and it's maybe just a natural end. I do believe he was devastated though, being there since 13 is a long time.

Yeah, blame La Liga and the "dark forces " in Madrid.

As player, you'd have to be excited at what is going on at PSG. Off the pitch they are creating a brand that could be the biggest sports franchise in the world in one of the best cities in world. On the pitch they creating a dream team. The players they are signing are world class. They squad they have is one of the best in the world. Why wouldn't you want to sign for PSG?!!

Ronaldo has been flirted with them for a year.

They held out for the top dog...

Probably on par. La Liga, Premier League and Bundesliga are the top 3 with Ligue 1 and Serie A a good bit behind. Ligue 1 has been a slight bit more competitive than Serie A.

Huge pressure on PSG now. They've came close to winning the Champions League in the last 2 seasons. They'd be expected to win it now with that squad.
No chance is the Bundesliga in the same bracket as La Liga and EPL

I reckon there are more decent teams in Serie A than the Bundesliga as well.
Disagree. Dortmund, Leipzig, Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Frankfurt would finish easily in the top 8 of Serie A (and Ligue 1). Italian football is living of it's name. Their clubs aren't doing much in Europe and the top players are living. Not many top players are moving there either.

Never said it is. It's the 3rd best league in the world behind La Liga and the PL. Ligue 1 and Serie A are probably on par.

it became a sad day for football when the likes of Chelsea and then Man City bought success! - I remember a midweek match back in the mid 80's when Chelsea had to play Man City at Maine Road in what was then still called the 2nd division?... only about 20,000 at what was a promotion decider.. basically nothing more than 2 average sized clubs who at the time both thought they were still big clubs from their moment in the spotlight during the 1970's!?
Totally right, they were the start of the death of football. It’s only going to get worse

If it's a 2 horse race how come there has been 3 different winners in the last 10 years? How come Spanish clubs have dominated European club competition for the 20 years? Alaves were the last Spanish club to lose a final to a non-Spanish team and that was in 2000.
Valencia got beat off Munich in 2001, sos if already pointed out. Still a tremendous record though.

Read something today that Laporta had met with Messi and told him it was all sorted and he had a plan. The plan was basically the La Liga CVC deal but Barca eventually vetoed that. Think Barca have known all along it wasn't feasible for them at all and took the easy option to allow his contract to expire so they could blame La Liga. Not sure Messi was in on it though, surely he would have just left when his contract expired if that was the case?

I'm certain, Messi was in on it. They would never leave him in the dark on this. And he and/or his agent/father must know the rules being implemented.
