Two unbelievable, awesome, great players.

Both scored hat tricks last night.

Obviously we can attract world class players to England, but the very top players always end up at Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Even with Man City's money, is it conceivable that the premiership could ever attract and keep players of this calibre, the best of the best?

Our biggest club is Man Utd by a mile, but they couldn't keep Ronaldo, and to me its inconceivable that an English club could go out and buy one of Barca or Reals best players, or that they'd want to come anyway.

It's simple really. Both those clubs can pay as well as utd (if not more), they have as good a reputation as Utd (if not better) and they have the added bonus of not being in Manchester. It's no wonder really.

You're pretty much correct, the very best players always end up at either Real or Barca.

Interested to see how many people on here start saying Ronaldo isn't that good. Popular line, loads of people seem convinced that he's shite, or overrated, for some unfathomable reason.

Utd couldnt keep him because he always wanted to play for Real

also because its a bit chilly in the uk

and because they get the extra time and space on the ball on the continent to make themselves look even better, and they dont get the shit kicked out of them every time they get the ball

I think with these 2 in particular, the fact they're Hispanic means that it would be the obvious choice.

It also is the case that the best players in the world often are Brazilian/Argentinian/Spanish/Portuguese and these lot will always end up in spain. African and Northern European players in recent years have been more favourable to playing in England.

Barca and Real will have had a far bigger reputation on the continent and in South America than the English clubs when these guys were growing up as well.

Ronaldo is a fantastic player, unfortunately he's an unbelievable twat at the same time. Messi seems to be a lot less full of himself.

Ronaldo's goal scording record for Madrid must be well over a goal a game, seems to be knocking in at least a brace every week
