Merseyside Derby

looking forward to this - propper derby. has been more relevant in recent years with everton improving along with the emergence of man city taking the emphasis off the man utd v liverpool matches. after our derby, i think this is the best derby in england.

Who do you want to / expect to win this? i would imagine being at home, most would say everton, but liverpool do seem to have the upper hand in the derby matches. im assuming big Marian will be back for the toffess and will make a huge difference for them, but with the likes of suarez, you never know what you are going to get. stirling and that crystal maze lad aren't bad on their day either.

my prediction is

everton 0 liverpool 2

but realistically i cant see us getting near everton (think they will be 10-15 ahead of us in may), and while i reckon liverpool will 'come good' and finish 6th or 7th, there is an outside chance we could be near them in may, so am hoping for an everton win.

i personally dont mind either side. i know we are normally shite against everton, and there has been a lot of hate for liverpool in recent years from most premiership fans, but it is a good, honest :) northern city, with propper fans, (similar to the northeast). should be a decent watch. can see an everton player getting sent off

Fellaini will miss out according to my Scouse mate who's a Toffee. Pienar suspended also.

Really enjoyed watching Everton this season, but they seem to have a similar mental block as we do with the Mags when it comes to the derbies.

Predict a score draw for what it's worth.

Eh

Utter Joke of a "derby" this scouse one - They go on like its intense and pure hatred and rivalry etc then the camera pans into the crowd and all the fans are sitting with each other holding hands in the Kop???

Agree, but the matches are usually good. Want Everton to win. Can't stand Liverpool.

All of the goodwill afforded during and after the Hillsborough disaster has all but evaporated.

There is intense rivalry again, as it should be.

Tell that to the Evertonian a was talking to down at Goodison before and after the Cup game had a 5inch scar on his face

What's that off mate?

"The Scar is from getting slashed before the derby a few seasons back one of our lot though I was a red"

Fair bit of bother at this game but just go ahead and let the odd Liverpool fan in the home end make you think otherwise

This.

Think he's remembering the 89 FA Cup final where there was obvious harmony between the two sets of supporters, post Hillsborough.

It was a very ill informed post.

Best English derbies IMO

Wear - Tyne
Merseyside
East Midlands
Burnley Blackburn
black country
south coast
east anglian
manchester
second city
witton - northwich
north london

prob missed some obvious ones here.

this def is one of the biggies - no doubt

Everton really should win this but can't help thinking that Moyes is going to be far too conservative on derby day as usual.

Na, you still regularly see Liverpool fans amongst the Everton lot at Goodison and vice versa.

It's a tame friendly derby, both sets of fans sit together ffs.
