McGeady

I don’t want to fall into the trap of comparing the two as it’s not fair on either but if you’re going to do so you should judge them by the same standards- I’ve seen plenty of woeful McGeady crosses and examples of bad decision making. As a seasoned pro with proven quality he doesn’t have the same excuse for it as Diamond has.

A few bad crosses and 2 goals at Wembley in a cup final...

I can't believe people are implying McGeady wouldn't improve us when our main attacking outlets at the moment are Wyke, Graham and erm that's about it.

So what if he doesn't track back that much, I'd pick attacking players based on what they can do at the attacking end, not what they're like defensively.

We've got a f***ing shit load of defensive minded players, too many, it's about time we started taking the games to teams for once

We’re far too exposed down that left hand side as it stands, it’ll be far worse if McGeady is brought back in to the side. He doesn’t help Hume out at all.

However, our creative options are as limited as I ever remember so it might be a risk we need to take.

Alan Kennedy 18 months prior to signing for us was a European cup winner scoring the winning goal. At 34 he suddenly couldn't run, tackle, pass. Nobody has seen Aiden McGeady kick a football for over a year and at 34/35 having failed to make an impression at Charlton his Champions league experience a decade ago doesn't count for much. Lets see if he has the legs, the desire and commitment. I'm not so sure
Can't understand why people are making excuses not for Mcgeady to be involved tbh. Absolute madness when you see we are watching the WORST team in our history.
Let's be honest - he's hardly a proven "highest level" player. He played about 30 games in the Premier League for Everton where he isn't exactly remembered fondly. And the Champions League appearances came when he was in Russia didn't they? So it's not like they came because he was playing for a big team in one of the top leagues. And all of that was 8/9 years ago now so hardly relevant.

He's got talent, I won't deny that. But he's not a player who can fit in with a team gameplan - he basically does what he wants. For me, the talent he has doesn't outweigh the negative aspects he brings to the team overall.
Bloody hell, we are watching the likes of O'brien, Maguire, Power, Dobson..i could go on and you say Mcgeady can't 'fit in'. Madness🙈
Mark Lynch, Cabral, Charis Mavrias, and Jack Rodwell all played Champions League football as well.
..and?

Makes you wonder if Poyet is indeed coming that he was the one who had the say in getting McGeady back involved in the squad as soon as possible.

Play McGeady in the number role, and give him the freedom to roam in the attacking half, and then his defensive frailties aren't a problem
