McGeady on disagreement with Parkinson

The only reason people are bleating on about fitness is because if a photo of mcgeady and Maguire in macdonslds (stop the world) and Parkinson bringing in a fitness coach. There is nothing having watched our games that people would’ve picked up without it being highlighted.
This is proven with the ludicrous notion that Maguire doesn’t look fat anymore, he was never fat in first place, it’s people seeing what they want to see.

Look at when di Canio took over from O’Neil and he mentioned fitness, it was absolutely lapped up. Of course it was utter nonsense but people will always believe what they want to believe.
Said all season and the season before they weren’t fit under Ross a blind man can see that was a f***ing disgrace totally amateur set up

Was largely overrated here and took away from the team.

Glad he is gone but to give him 2 seasons on probabley the highest paid contract in the division was barmy.

This.

I've not noticed many going on about our lack of power and pace recently.

Fitter players = faster and stronger players.

Apart from us pressing high, playing a higher line, closing down the opposition at every opportunity in the Rochdale, Wycombe game. Players looking leaner which Maguire does, also represented by him lasting longer in games. He wasn’t as fit as he should have been, and he’s even recognised that himself. Not to mention the obvious, a massive change in results since our change in fitness levels as well as tactical changes. You’re wrong.

And all the late goals we have been scoring - three on Saturday, the winner on a muddy pitch at Tranmere, MK Dons away. It's blatantly obvious that we are far fitter than we ever were under Ross.

Whilst conveniently forgetting the two late goals against Walsall last season.

The point is this time last season nobody would have a bad word said about Ross and there was no talk of lack of fitness, commitment etc. Remember we are only 1 place above were Parkinson found us as well.

I don’t see any discernible difference from this season to last but because we are currently on a run of good results (not particularly good performances) people will see what they want to see.

Honearly I can’t stress how nonsensical the notion that maguure looks visibly trimmer is.

he plays for a team in a higehr league now..indicating he would have gotten into most teams or all of them in this league..ergo..the best player in his positon in this league.

he plays in a highelr league now..
Is he getting games though? ..unused sub at weekend I think.
At 34 I suspect when he is sitting on said bench and learns we are 3 nowt up (again) does he regret not helping the lads in their promotion push?

Are you telling me that you can see Maguire looks trimmer? Seriously?

By the way Maguire was good last season as well.
No. I said the team looks far fitter. It was literally the post just before yours.
he was good in spells last season..but also couldnt egt into the team for parts of the season..
We play a far more intense pressing game now. Completely different to last season. Even a blind man could see the organisation and fitness is well up from the plodding football we had to endure last season.

I take it you commented on the lack of fitness last season as well then? Ya know given it was so obvious.

Maguire will always have good and bad spells, nature of that type of player.

key is to have a manager who maximises the good spells..ie by having him at maximum fitness and playing him in the right position..

I’d say he was every bit as good during his good spells under Ross as he has been under Parkinson.
He’s a good steady turn at this level.

Last season and most of this season people have complained about lack of power and pace, slow weak players when in fact it was lack of fitness as we are witnessing now.

But we are in the same position now as we were most of last season.
Rather than fitness I’d say the difference is not having slow ponderous players like catts, leadbitter and mxgeough cluttering you the midfield.
Even then I wouldn’t say the difference is startling, we are still a hard watch.

I'm not forgetting anything, but if one match in 2018, when we drew against a team that got relegated, is the best example you can find to show fitness under Ross you're really scraping the barrel.

Meanwhile here is Chris Maguire in Parkinson's first game

How the action unfolded on Wearside

Here is Chris Maguire on Saturday.

The EFL first Sunderland star Chris Maguire achieved in the Black Cats' win over Bristol Rovers

If you can't see a visible improvement, then it's you who is refusing to see things.

Lack of fitness now eh

It's the fittest we've looked in ages hence the lateness of goats in recent games
No lack of fitness last season and the start of this, now we're fitter nobody seems to be mentioning lack of power and pace or slow weak players.
They never were slow or weak they were unfit.

If Parkinson came in the summer we'd be top of the league now.

As explained Maguire had excellent games last season as well. This isn’t just exclusive to this season.
Pretyy sure we were down to 10 men as well against Walsall weren’t we?
Also a goal in 120th minute against Pompey. Can’t get much later than that.

The last point is key ...if we don't go up this season , I'm very confident if Parky stays he will get us up next.Hope we don't have to wait mind ...huge week this one .HTL
