McGeady on disagreement with Parkinson

Not sure there is any need for the pettiness of calling me a 'f***ing bellend'. All I'm saying is a lot of posts claim McGeady is this that and the other but there is no proof to say he is or isn't.

I posted on here as someone who actually does know him that it was nonsense, and was roundly told I was wrong by those without a clue.

The McDonalds was at a motorway services stop where the whole squad were present. I can only imagine the food choices other players may have taken that fateful day

With regard his character, he was a bit big headed as a young lad whilst playing CL football at Celtic, however in the main, he's a quiet, fairly unassuming and decent lad. Not the characteristics of what someone would term a bully. He enjoyed his time here and played most of last season with a broken foot.

People have preconceptions and some of those preconceptions are based on goodness knows what. I suspect now we know that they were wrong, they'll go back to their hole.

Everything with our fans is based on what they want to believe.
When we were still struggling after Parkinson decided he didn’t fancy mcgeady there was a lot claiming they rather parky fucked off than mcgeady.
Once we had an upturn then the ITKs go into overdrive claiming they’ve heard this or that and Parkinson has been shown to be right. Now he might well be but that doesn’t mean to say anything untoward has gone on.

I think Parkinson was just trying to shift the highest earner at the club. No more, no less.

Quite possibly or maybe he just didn’t think mcgeady fitted in to way he wanted to do things.
Either way the stuff spouted has been ludicrous really. As you say the bloke played eith a broken foot last season and was our best player by a mile. Short memories some people.

I take it you commented on the lack of fitness last season as well then? Ya know given it was so obvious.

Sometimes you notice a change in something or someone, but it doesn't always equate to you noticing any specific inadequacy there previously ?

For example, i have commented on people looking like they have lost weight, without ever thinking they were ever overweight in the first place. Also a work colleague may suddenly appear a lot more confident, but without me ever thinking they were lacking in confidence? Or even a member of a message-board becoming a massive bellend, when everyone knew they were always a minor bellend in the first place?

All Gooch has on him is age ability wise they're worlds apart you knacker

Were you saying this last season ? Very much doubt it
It depends how you define better. I would argue that Gooch fits into our team better than McGeady did, and I don't think it's a total coincidence that our form improved when Gooch returned from injury.

I’d say given this is so apparent that it must’ve been commented on last season.
Surely just one person must’ve mentioned it on here. I mean it’s blindingly obvious isn’t it. So I’ve been told anyway.

Too subtle for you - or just plain ignored ?

You can see why some people are cynical about the improved fitness line with Parkinson because this has been a common phrase used by new safc managers about the previous regime.

But going to back to the Tranmere game at home when we blew them away a lot of supporters near where I sit commented on our pressing approach and how "up for it" we looked, and even then I'd heard questions about how McGeady would fit into the system.

Under Parkinson recently (even in the games we've not played well in but won) what I've noticed is a system that seems to work, players understand roles and little things like increased intensity and some players such as Wyke and O'Nien's touch has visibly improved.

The point re data is valid, but to the match going observer most would agree we seem fitter. Some of that will be down to confidence and a system that works of course but I cant recall a goal like our first on Saturday under Ross that jumps out and bites me?

It’s the go to line for a lot of managers, gets the fans onside as it gets then thinking these pampered prima donas are being made to sing for their supper.
We scored quite a few goals in last 10 under Ross, this isn’t exclusive to Parkinson.
Personally I don’t think we are any better than last season although I agree that goal on Saturday was excellent.

I agree it's a stock response, hence the cynical view you have and it is all about opinions. I know from someone at the club that under MON we did little in the way of fitness and PDC changed that and the data backed it up that the players were fitter under him. His fitness obsession the following pre-season was part of his downfall imo but that's besides the point.

I dont think the late goals under Parkinson is really about fitness though, under Ross McGeady basically ran the show (and Honeyman ran all over the place) and a lot of our goals were down to just passing people off the park.

It's generally accepted in football that teams that play a pressing game have to be fit in order for it to work well, you can see why people can come to the conclusion we are fitter?

Like I said earlier I dont put the run of results since boxing day just down to improved fitness.
