If Trott plays I can see them dropping Ballance down the order. He played lower down the order at Yorkshire so I don't think it would be a problem.

Nah, sorry like but you can't possibly know if he's better than Lyth at this point.
Lyth is an opener and deserves his chance, Trott is a number 3 and hasn't done enough to warrant a recall just yet in my eyes.
