Mayenda injured in his first training session

The problem is there's to many international games, if its not bloated Euro's its Bloated world cup qualifiers or around the world friendly matches, I've said it before they keep moaning players play to many games yet keep on adding to the work load and the only reason in greed...
Agreed. If they had pre-qualifiers for the weaker teams in Euros and World Cups, it would make the groups smaller, and mean less games.

Both matetes and mayendas this year could be. It's strains and tears that are normally caused by poor training management.

Sam allardyce got barely any. Including kirchoff
Matete's is a knee injury from a tackle. Mayenda was in his first training session with us so I'm not sure how we could have managed his training prior to that?

Really unfortunate timing for him, arrived when we were desperate for attackers and now he's got a contest to even get on the bench
Not sure he would have featured much tbh, Hemir has barely played and I doubt Mayenda would have been ahead of him.

I’ve said this numerous times but people won’t have it. There is something badly wrong in the training conditioning to have this level of injuries constantly
So, I would usually agree. Moyes for instance was clearly responsible for not being able to keep Kirchoff etc. Fit after Sam did (with it being said that he was disregarding the training regime they had for Kirchoff and just making him train with everybody)

With Mowbray, I did think there was something wrong. But I do think a lot of it's down to luck.

Mayenda was injured in his first training session, which unless Mowbray kicked him can't really be Mowbrays fault (they wouldn't even have had a chance to sort out an individual plan for him etc.).

Last year our injury crises can be put down to over-relying on certain players and bringing others back too soon. It's not surprising that Ballard and Batth ended the season with injuries when they had played every game (when fit), with no rotation and Alese after he was clearly rushed back from an injury against Luton (understandable, they looked like scoring from every set piece). Embleton was a freak accident on the pitch, Cirkin too with athe concussion, Bennette on international duty etc.
Stewart was just some curse of the gods.

I think it will be much better this year because we have more cover, or we trust it more now. Mowbray sticking with Ba for a few games and waiting for Roberts to recover properly is/will be a great indicator.
With Alese coming back and hopefully Seelt looking good we might be able to rotate key players in and out, especially as the fixtures start piling up.

Embos wasn't a freak accident it was a malicious bit of play by Ryan Woods - look at it again here
7:19 in. Embo does leap in the air and is not in control but Woods smashes him on purpose and then feigns an injury

It’s not the number of international games that is the problem. We are playing 8 qualifiers for the next Euros. We played 8 in qualifying for 1980 Euros. In the year before the 1980 Euros (1979) England played 3 Home Internationals, 2 friendlies, and 5 qualifiers. This year we will play 8 qualifiers and 2 friendlies. So it’s the same as 40 years ago - 8 competitive and 2 friendlies. The problem is that the extended Champions League format means that there are limited free mid weeks for internationals, and so they have been bumped to weekends.

I’ll be in the minority on this and, to be clear, I don’t mind cutting some pointless friendlies.

But for me it’s the club game that needs trimming more than international. It’s the club game where greed is more in charge.

Handful of international breaks v a 46 game season with two cup competitions? It isn’t the former that breaks players.

Cirkin's been out injured with more than the two bouts of concussion you talk about. His knee put him out for two months.

Yes, sorry I was just giving examples. Both (one knee and one thigh) occured during games iirc. You are always going to get injuries, in the championship there are a lot of games.
My main point was/is that rather than being down to poor training method I think our Injury crisis last year can be put down primarily to having a relatively small squad of senior players. Now that players like, Ekwah (since the end of last season), Ba and potentially Benette are trusted to start games we will feel less forced to rush players back from injury.

Just it's the same as what Blackburn fans came on here and posted about.

I wouldn't disagree with this comment...If thesetype of injuries are keep cropping up again and again as they seem to be, there is usually an underlying problem causing them. needs looking at.

Yeah I get that, but if we had 3 other teams in our qualifying groups it would mean playing 6 qualifiers instead of 8, and obviously the amount of friendlies we play is down to us.

I sort of get ya point, however it's club football that keeps international football afloat, without the club superstars it would mean very little IMO. At international level players travel alot and rest very little and get (in comparison very little monetary reward for it) Tournaments are getting bigger with more games over longer periods of time. When will players get the chance to rest...
