Busy day tomorrow as Mrs TVM and I are going to Canada on Wednesday, but staying overnight at Gatwick ahead of our flight.

No football for me on Tuesday apart from watching videos from Sunday, not sure about beer.

Stay safe everyone.

"We must have the worst record at Wembley, sadly once again boro didn't turn up" so was Tearoom Expert's considered verdict of his trip to The Smoke on Saturday. It's a great stadium but not many happy memories for those of a Middlesbrough supporting perspective anyway.

The general consensus of opinion was that boro had no cutting edge, and a keeper blunder cost them dearly. Many felt that they dominated possession but they didnโ€™t create anything at all which was a shame as they were second for most of the season but you need someone to finish. They need pace and movement as they are so static against teams who sit in.The feeling is that Hull won't survive in the premier league, but tthey took their chance on Saturday and the team with a proper striker won.

TE congratulated me on a "Cracking result for yous (his affectionate terminology for SAFC) and an amazing season" (through gritted teeth I hasten to add) while politely enquiring "Is that the first time Sunderland has got into Europe apart from an episode of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet? He has conveniently forgotten about our brief sojourn to the continent in the 1973 European Cup Winners Cup, Vasas Budapest, Sporting Lisbon and all.

On that note I imagine that I'll be regaled with stories of "The Road to Eindhoven" and Middlesbrough's historic run to the 2006 UEFA Cup Final under Steve McClaren over the coming months.... deep joy

Roll on five o'clock
