Good Afternoon Rip πŸ–
I've discovered an anti Covid concoction.
I'm keeping the virus at bay, by scoffing ice cream and guzzling Baileys and cider.
There's no guarantee it'll keep me safe, but it's a lot more enjoyable than the Petulant President's, idea of injecting disinfectant and taking anti malaria tablets to ward off the virus. πŸ˜‰

Man with a Plan

Thank you - it never gets easier. He was only 5 years old, but cancer got him so quickly.
I'm very sorry to hear that, AG. God bless him. Here's a translation of a poem by the great Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda. It's for you, your dog & for anyone else who wishes to remember their own dogs, in the hope it might provide some solace:

A Dog Has Died
BY PABLO NERUDA
TRANSLATED BY ALFRED YANKAUER
My dog has died.
I buried him in the garden
next to a rusted old machine.

Some day I'll join him right there,
but now he's gone with his shaggy coat,
his bad manners and his cold nose,
and I, the materialist, who never believed
in any promised heaven in the sky
for any human being,
I believe in a heaven I'll never enter.
Yes, I believe in a heaven for all dogdom
where my dog waits for my arrival
waving his fan-like tail in friendship.

Ai, I'll not speak of sadness here on earth,
of having lost a companion
who was never servile.
His friendship for me, like that of a porcupine
withholding its authority,
was the friendship of a star, aloof,
with no more intimacy than was called for,
with no exaggerations:
he never climbed all over my clothes
filling me full of his hair or his mange,
he never rubbed up against my knee
like other dogs obsessed with sex.

No, my dog used to gaze at me,
paying me the attention I need,
the attention required
to make a vain person like me understand
that, being a dog, he was wasting time,
but, with those eyes so much purer than mine,
he'd keep on gazing at me
with a look that reserved for me alone
all his sweet and shaggy life,
always near me, never troubling me,
and asking nothing.

Ai, how many times have I envied his tail
as we walked together on the shores of the sea
in the lonely winter of Isla Negra
where the wintering birds filled the sky
and my hairy dog was jumping about
full of the voltage of the sea's movement:
my wandering dog, sniffing away
with his golden tail held high,
face to face with the ocean's spray.

Joyful, joyful, joyful,
as only dogs know how to be happy
with only the autonomy
of their shameless spirit.

There are no good-byes for my dog who has died,
and we don't now and never did lie to each other.

So now he's gone and I buried him,
and that's all there is to it.
Afternoon, Hossifer Cadet Howldwife....

Morning @hank williams , nowt footy wise for me today but have a nice day pal. Morning all, hope you all have a nice day. Never really mentioned anything on here before but my brother isn't in great health atm. I'm taking him to The Royal Preston Hospital this morning so I'm in later but I've got the meds & dressing more or less sorted but I'll work a bit later tonight. My brother will (80% sure) be losing his right foot (been ongoing for months.) and although it sounds awful, he's in so much pain he said it would be a blessing now. All went rapidly down hill this weekend, the nurses (who do his dressings) got the appointment today to see the surgeon, so we'll see how it goes. Seriously, he did say he'd be eligible for the Paraplegic Game....But I said Darts isn't in it yet...πŸŽ―β™Ώ... Keep smiling and well done to Sir Tom, fantastic news.

So sorry to hear of your brother's plight πŸ˜ͺ
I'll keep everything crossed that something can be done for him, whereby he can be successfully treated, without the need for amputation. 🀞
Undoubtedly it'll be a worrying time for you, but I hope you manage to have a good day, mate. πŸ‘
Best wishes to your brother. πŸ™

Morning Scored From....

Another epic post from a top poster....

So sorry to hear about your brother in law....

He must be in a huge amount of pain to actually want his foot removing....

Hope he gets sorted asap mate, and best wishes for a speedy recovery...

Morning Cloughy mate...

Hope you are well and taking advantage the glorious Mediterranean weather at the moment...

That's good to hear Becs, dogs are definitely a mans/Womans best friend and Bob is your special boy....some dogs you just click with and with Wesley I'm sure he understands every word I say to him, Bob sounds similar...

Wesley still makes us laugh every single day, we're going to try and give his coat a grooming today followed by a bath, as his coat is quite long and he's black so attracts the heat....

I'm so glad Lyn's home to help me as he hates the water. Our groomers are on lockdown, unexplainable in my eyes, as it's easy to social distance at the place I take him. Heyho it must be for the best for them....

God knows what hes gonna look like when we've finished, Lyn holds him in place while I try not to cut her fingers off...lol ...I would post the results on here for a laugh but I'm a dinosaur...I dont know how...maybe someone can send a link to upload pics ?
Afternoon, MK. I'm OK, thanks. A bit gyp in the hip but not reached the crying stage. Yit. I've got a kind of pale blue complexion that turns rapidly red with the slightest bit heat (like a lobster, come to think of it), so I'm grafting indoors. I'm great in the cowld but heat cripples me, ha, ha.
Morning young wobble
Afternoon, niknak, la.
Good point that

You'll enjoy it all the more when you see it

Were going for our first coffee out tomorrow as the halfway hut is now open whilst πŸŒοΈβ€β™‚οΈing

Good morning la, wife thinks it the lack of pollution maybe, they use to fly over from Sywell Reservoir to the tip about 5 mile away, but not been doing that for past couple of years

All is fair as they say. Hank got no chance. A fair maiden versus a prickly pear

Good news on both accounts πŸ˜‰
She could well be reet, Sis, la. But this is a change I've noticed since the lockdown. We'll have ter get Chris Packham ontivit....
Morning Hank, Morning Becs and Bob, Morning all.

Take it easy all. I have walked 5 miles today - that will teach me to run out of petrol!
On form the day, John, la. Like it....
Morning hank and all. Will give that game a miss.

Afternoon, Hossifer Cadet Howldwife....

Good afternoon from:

The job sounds as if it was meant for you and suits your lifestyle perfectly marra...

So you get the same amount of sleep as myself, it's worse with light mornings and the dawn chorus at stupid o'clock...

You should never refuse a free drink of any description " ask Hank " lol...

Mrs MK loves her baileys , but only the original flavour, to be honest, I've never tried it...

It's been many a long day since I've been to the metropolis that is BWH ....

Not been back to the NE since we came up for the Villa game " lost 0-1 in the premiership. We stayed in a cottage close to High Force, the wife loved it sooo much " not the match " she just kept screaming at Seb " I know you can score that free kick from 25yards as she yelled " I saw you do it for Arsenal " I pissed myself, needless to say that the free kick ended up 10 yards high, as per....

She's so placid and normally quite quiet, but take her to football and she changes totally haha
I have no trouble sleeping.
My problem is that I fall akip, but only for a maximum of 4 hours, so if I'm asleep at 10pm, I'm then wide awake at 2am, and cannot get back off again, which is why the hours of my job suit me.
When we're able to go back to the match again, the 5am to 9am shift will be ideal for me, as I'll be able to finish at 9am on a Satda, and have time for a breaky in Asda's cafe, and be on the 10 or 11am train to Sunland (Asda is only 5 minutes walk to H/pool train station)
I'm only a temp, on a 3 month contract, which ends at the end of June, but hopefully I'll be kept on as a full time worker.🀞
Even if they don't keep me on, I'll always be grateful somebody at least, had faith in me, to do a good job for them.
Volunteer at my local food bank marra

It's not the graft it's the bloody walking 7 miles a day

Good afternoon KD, πŸ–
that's a smashing photo, btw. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Am glad you enjoyed the walk & the company, and managed to grab a takeaway coffee (I'm really missing visiting my usual Cost,a's, M&S, and the Cafe Rappor, at H/pool marina, as I love a fresh brewed coffee)
You take care, stay safe, and have an enjoyable day in the sunshine.πŸ‘

You have the right attitude marra, and you have old school ethics, they'd be crazy not to keep you..

You're local and I'm certain you get there in good time and put a shift in, unlike a lot of people who would turn in late and bigger around while there.

Would the hours change if you were made permanent ?
