Absolutely. That's what I like about Prior to be honest - he was an utter shambles of a wicketkeeper at first and wouldn't have lasted if he didn't improve quickly but he really did work hard at his keeping to become pretty good.

James Foster's poor batting really helped!

he will be England's best ever, in time I would play him in the top 5 and bring a new wicket keeper in, he's that good, as happened to numerous others, McCullum for one.

Would not want to put that pressure on him too soon, needs more time to develop, the ideal situation would be for him to still bat at seven and England have 6 class batsman ahead of him

I just think he will be too good to have at 7 eventually, hes probably our best bat at the minute outside Cook and Root

I think he has that rare commodity of been a big game player who strives under pressure, his first class average in 4 day cricket was nowt to right home about before picked for England, however he has always looked to have that extra something about him.

Don't want to rush him, looked what happened to Root when he was put up the order too early,we need to be patient.

Yeah didn't say do it soon, but he will eventually IMO.

Buttler is doing fantastically well, very talented and great mentally but some are going way over the top here. Still has it all to prove and needs to show over a period of time he can play well when its moving around.

I think you should get carried away sometimes, why not? He's a hell of a talent, nowhere near proven himself in tests I just think he is our best talent with root.

2 years ago he was batting 8 which is laughable

Agreed, there have been positive signs however in recent tests, he seems capable of knucking down and batting properly rather than relying on just his eye.

As for Prior, great servant over the years, always baffled me why he never took to ODI cricket but he was a key part of a successful test team, very reliable.

Yeah very strange, he was mainly an offside player though, were in ODIs you need to move the ball round to all parts of the ground.

Best in the world for a spell and a consistantly excellent driving force for one the the best ever England team. Hopefully people will forget the shite written about him by the cretin and remember the cricket.

spoke well today on sky. thanked kp for his messages on his retirement. i think some of it was really two lads arguing ala dirtybristow and jardine on here.

wants a job with sky

Two South Africans bad mouthing each other. Nothing to see here.

Prior was a prick? He wasn't at all, he was the ultimate team man. That's the point you have completely missed.

Everyone else knows he was bar one man.

Why was he "supposedly a prick" what are you basing that on?
Do you know that on a personal level? Or is it just what another player has said? I'm basing that comment, not opinion, on a book as you well know. My point was opinions aside, KP must have still respected him as a cricketer.

But I apologise for having an opinion, I forgot nobody is allowed to have one other than you

I'd pick him for his batting alone. Superb player. His keeping has a lot of room for improvement still.
Considering he's played second fiddle for most of his career in terms of keeping it's nee wonder he's pretty poor stood up. Seems good stood back mind , very athletic and has had a canny few cracking takes down the leg side.

Thoughts? Load of cricketers kicking off on twitter about it.

It's kind of linked but I think cricketers and cricket are behind the times in terms of professionalism and alcohol.

For these type of statements to be taken seriously, evidence and examples need to be provided. Now that would be bold.

Insinuation and hearsay means nowt. It’s far too easy to disparage generally than specifically
