Very good wk/batsman.

Seemed to me likea much better bloke than KP painted him.

Doubt he would have played for Eng again mind. Future is Butler......I think even if his test form is dodgy to start with, theres enough there to persevere with

I think he's a bit of a tit but will always like him for his Podgy tribute.

When do you class him as not starting any more? Averaging 52 after 8 tests with 5 half centuries and taken 32 catches(sure he broke a record in one test in terms of catches)

Thought he'd only played 4 or 5 but first 20/25 tests to answer your Q. See how he shapes up vs SA and Aus.

Think he'll do great personally but many top eng players have had poor 1st ashes series

I personally think Butler standing up to the stumps is very poor, however he is young, a superb batsman, and will undoubtedly look to improve. Big test will be if we can actually find a spinner who regularly beats the bat.

You could have said the same about Prior in the early days

Absolutely. That's what I like about Prior to be honest - he was an utter shambles of a wicketkeeper at first and wouldn't have lasted if he didn't improve quickly but he really did work hard at his keeping to become pretty good.

England legend, key part of one of the best ever England teams. It was absolutely shameful the way he was depicted and that f***ing book, the utlimate team man, and very unselfish with his batting, always score at the rate the team needed, was not interested in his own stats.

Would of scored more 100s as a top order proper batsman and turned into a fantastic wicket keeper

It was mental he played for so long when you look at the details of his injury.

Even KP has acknowledged his cricketing ability on Twitter this morning, Prior replied thanking him.

Aye thats f***ing nice of him, should make up for a whole book describing him as a bully and criticising him page after page.

Just because the bloke was supposedly a prick doesn't mean his achievements as a cricketer can't be complimented. You get way to in to this KP thing, quite laughable really

Prior was a prick? He wasn't at all, he was the ultimate team man. That's the point you have completely missed.

Everyone else knows he was bar one man.

Why was he "supposedly a prick" what are you basing that on?
