Morning Fellas, hope you all enjoyed the match last night, bit nerve-racking for us but i can imagine great for the neutral. A draw was a fair result, only just mind. We were not at our best by a long shot! A few seasons ago we would have been thrashed, so it does show how far we have come and how much harder we are to beat.

Defensively we were all over the shop imo, and this was down to one thing, Anton Ferdinand. Without Titus or Mensah we lacked presence. He is more mobile than any of our CB's but his concentration is SHOCKING!

Anyways this is how i would rate the lad's last night:

Gordon - 6 - Could have maybe done better with the 1st goal, but he could do nothing with the 2nd. His kicking was poor again, definitely the weak point in his game.

Onouha - 6 - Not the best performance, solid enough. Looks good on the ball. Struggled with Peinaar and Baines (having bolo in front of him didnt help.

Bardo - 8 - Class. This lad has been immense this season. hard working, got forward well, decent deliveries. would have been my MOTM if not for Welbeck.

Turner - 7 - Solid, didn’t really put a foot wrong, got out muscled my the yak late on but bar that a decent performance.

Anton - 4 - The weak link! yes he made a decent stop near then end and you could say grew as the game went on. but for me he is the reason we didn’t get all 3 points. if Bramble or Mensah were playing we would have looked a lot more solid, and they wouldn’t have scored after 5 mins.

Rico - 7 - Did well, good pace. He gives us another outlet. deserves his place in the side for Wolves.

Catts - 7 - Solid, i feel the lad is starting to get back to his old self. He made a few good forward runs like we saw last season. long may it continue.

Hendo - 5.5 - Bit of a headless chicken tbh. The lad needs a rest. No doubt he will become a top player but not yet.

Bolo - 6 - Bar the assist for the goal, which was class. He did very little. adds some composure, but in a high intensity game like last night, i felt Elmo was better suited.

Bent - 4 - Poor, offered very little. No doubt he is not fully fit, but atm he is my 3rd choice striker. No doubt he will regain his form and start scoring again, but he offered precious little yesterday.

Welbeck - 9 *MOTM* - Top class, quick, strong, powerful, confident. Everything you want from a front man. For me him and Gyan to start on sat. He made things happen all night. So much better as a front man than on the wing. I hope we can sign him, one question guys, do we want waggy back now? we were all saying he was a silly acquisition, Could be a very important player this season.

Subs:

Steed - 6 - didn’t have too much impact, had a sued effort after beating a man late on and nearly set up Danny for his 3rd.

Elmo - 6 - looked dangerous; he is fantastic in the air. he should start against wolves for me.

Good point for the lads, hard fought. Considering we got 4 points from Spuds and Chelski away ill take a point. For wolves i would make some changes id play :

------------Flash---------------

Onouha--Turner--Mensah?----Bardo

-Elmo--Catts----Steed-----Rico---

-------Gyan------Welbeck-------

Hopefully Mensah will be fit to take Antons place i'd even have PDS over him.

Bolo is a great player but in a game like last nights and like wolves away i think you need more pace.

Hendo needs a rest, i think we can all agree on this.

Thoughts?

Gordon - 4 - Shaky as fook collect a cross and try and catch for fucks sake

Onouha - 6 - not his best game but steady

Ferdinand - 6 - Nowhere near as bad as people are making out made some vital clearances and played the ball out of the back well. A little rusty back from injury.

Turner - 6 - Needs a Bramble or a Mensah to carry him or his frailties are exposed, cracking goal line clearance but distrubution appalling. Does the basics well but i think we need to buy better in January.

Bardsley - 8 - Very solid display

Zenden - 8 - Apart from a mistake at the start had a very good game and his assist for the 1st goal was top class.

Henderson - 3 - Did he even play last night? Utter shite passing and movement........people walked past him like he wasn't there.

Cattermole - 7 - Decent solid display in the centre

Richardson - 8 - As Zenden did very well on the wing and was one of our best attacking players. Quality offside assist.

Bernt Haas -5 - Must have been injured - looked like he had no pace. Could have passed that one he hit into the side netting though. Turner take note he's not Andy Carroll. Stop hoofing balls to him!!

Welbeck - 9 - My motm and another top display from the youngster

Subs

Steed - 5 - Did nowt apart from that ball to Welbeck

Elmo - 5 - Had one good run but did little else

Pretty much agree with your ratings and assessment. Also agree with that team for Wolves apart from one. I'd leave Bent in and put Welbeck on the left side. Richardson flatters to deceive and we would still get all the benefits that Welbeck brings to the team with his workrate and closing down.
Wolves are without their main CH''s and we have to go there looking to dominate play in their half. We are going to be dodgy at the back ourselves for a few weeks so we have to put teams like Wolves on the back foot.

team for Wolves:

Mignolet

Onouha Turner Ferdinand/Mensah Bardo

Zenden Steed Cattermole Richadson

Gyan Welbeck
