Massive missed opportunity

I’m not one that’s holding onto us having a chance of top two. However last night we could’ve claimed back two points on Burnley and Sheffield. Our home form has been rancid this Calendar year but we had a massive chance last night to have put that bit extra pressure on those above. Shame now it’s about finding form before the playoffs keeping players fit and seeing who we get. Could’ve been an exciting end but it’s looking like it’s ten? Games for players to pull their fingers out or we risk going into the playoffs disjointed and out of form.
We've had 20 gameweeks of missed opportunities.

We've been 4th since the 26th November.

Think with three of the above drawing their last games it felt like we could’ve clawed back some points on them and made the run in a bit more interesting than playing for fitness and form that the run in now feels.

Tactics and player selection was the problem but Preston were physical good at cheating and generally stopping us from playing.

I’ll be honest I did, well playoffs I think people forget how close we were to the playoffs offs before we sacked mogga. The collapse second half of last season I lay firmly at the feet of speakman and kld tbh as I honestly think if we’d have kept Mowbray we’d have been with a shout of playoffs again as he’s shown since he’s taken over wba he may have wobbles but he will normally keep teams within touching distance of a playoff spot.
That's a short time to decide Mowbray is nailed on promo material
I didn't agree with the sacking bit we've improved right across the squad since then I think . Players getting games who weren't
Players improving etc
Just seem to have hit a slump .

Definitely and frustrating indeed.

For me personally I think that's why we have such strong feelings on the board at the minute. I.e lets sack Le Bris!!!

As season has been great but been a lot of what could have been. Plus pressure of losing a lot of this crop of players if we don't go up.

Fingers crossed we can find a way to go up however it is!

A slump maybe but other teams have worked us out and we don’t have an out and out striker. Our goal difference shows clearly we are where we deserve to be

The ones we beat haven't worked us out but we were never that complex . We played well as a unit and chances and goals were coming from several players at all times in the game
The return to Clarke days of side to side isn't good .
We were beating defenders for fun not so long ago
No we're slow and easy to defend against

Not sure what’s happened to us. We seem bereft of ideas in attack and always keen to go sideways or backwards. Shadow of the team we were watching at the beginning of the season
Mechanically drilled into the team to pass it round the back, almost football by numbers.pass pass pass, don’t lose possession them by the time we do try and get forward most teams are back into their defensive positions we struggle to break down, ball gets cleared then the same routine starts again, all very predictable at times

Still a massive improvement on last year, but whether this style will carry us to the prem is anyone’s guess

But the problem is we haven't used our squad at all. Le Bris flogged the same 13/14 players into the ground and made the fewest substitutions in the league. Compounded, of course, by injuries to key positions (missing Mundle and Watson at the same time left us without a left winger for months, Brown and Samed at the same time meant no cover for Rigg - and refusal to use Aleksic, Ba or Aouchiche).
Agreed

We’re where we deserve to be in the league table. Over 37 games we’ve been better than everyone in the division bar the three sides above us.

Failing a catastrophic drop off we’ll finish in 4th place when 46 games are played.

The problem will be that it looks like it’s our form in the first few months of the season that will have earned us that position. The playoffs will be won by the side in the best form at that point - and unless we find our zip back I don’t see that being us.
Hopefully we can just switch the intensity button on for 3 matches….
