Massive missed opportunity

I’m not one that’s holding onto us having a chance of top two. However last night we could’ve claimed back two points on Burnley and Sheffield. Our home form has been rancid this Calendar year but we had a massive chance last night to have put that bit extra pressure on those above. Shame now it’s about finding form before the playoffs keeping players fit and seeing who we get. Could’ve been an exciting end but it’s looking like it’s ten? Games for players to pull their fingers out or we risk going into the playoffs disjointed and out of form.

We just aren't as good as we hope they would be. We have some very good talent but we struggle against big strong teams and that isn't because we are bottling it or being half arsed or any other bollocks. The players are nearly good enough to be a top two team but they are just not quite there yet. The turn around from last season has been very good and to have pushed the three teams with millions upon millions of parachute payments has been impressive overall. The team is still full of kids learning how to play in mens football.
Hopefully we keep most of our players because we should see some more improvements next season

We’re where we deserve to be in the league table. Over 37 games we’ve been better than everyone in the division bar the three sides above us.

Failing a catastrophic drop off we’ll finish in 4th place when 46 games are played.

The problem will be that it looks like it’s our form in the first few months of the season that will have earned us that position. The playoffs will be won by the side in the best form at that point - and unless we find our zip back I don’t see that being us.

We aren't good enough. Our midfield don't create anything, nearly every game we require individual brilliance from Isador or Mayenda. When was the last time any of our midfield 3 scored?

Panic mode on. No need to panic, fatigue crept in. have you notice the different Riggs, when he came on, he look fresh, play better than the last few weeks. jobe should rest soon. Luke Onien and of course patto, Dan Neil. Its vital for play off games.

This. We aren’t a top 2 side, we don’t have the overall quality in the squad.

Top 6 is an achievement, top 2 would have been a massive overachievement.

We just need to make sure the team are physically fit and mentally ready for the play offs. But realistically, this squad is miles away from being able to compete in the Premier League, we’d need at least 5 starting players signed.

Best post I've seen to sum up our season so far

Top 2 is completely gone now.

It's obvious that teams will drop points, but it's obvious we'll drop around about the same, and we're already behind.

Keep fit, get sharper and get players back for late April for a couple of games under their belt ahead of the play offs.

We were only a fit centre half away from Wembley under Mowbray. Difference being we didn't get play offs until the final day, so momentum was with us. This time we have taken advantage of knowing we are in them already and planning for them.

I think all clubs promoted from this seasons championship would need a massive overhaul to stand any chance of survival in the top flight.

I looked at the Forest side that beat Huddersfield to win the playoffs a couple of seasons ago - the side that started the premier league season just three months later had only three survivors from that team (one of them was Jack Colback !)

Looking like being another excellent season with a young team. Hopefully we can win the play offs, but if we don’t then this summer needs to be the one to bridge the gap. 6th place and 4th place finishes need to be built on at some point and hopefully we’ll invest even more this time around.

The midfield is as weak as piss. Neil and Jobe sit far too deep resulting in no runners through the middle to support our lone forward.. need more steel there but we have no one to fit that bill.
They have been desperate to watch of late, scrambling for a win or to secure a draw.
One defeat at home throws a veil over actual performances.
A play off berth seems more or less secure, form at the appropriate time is crucial and we need to step up hugely.

Im not covinced we will. Theres fundamental issues with in game management and our style of play isnt effective. I agree we have talented players but the cautious approach from our 'manager' is just killing it.

Wheres the talking to Isidor to ask him to hold it up instead of flicking it on to no one. Or subbing jobe when he clearly wasnt effective. Or encouraging our fullbacks to get beyond the wingers.

I think its more likely to go backwards than forwards with Reggie involved

If both Burnley and Sheffield Utd had lost and we won it could have perhaps been the start of something.

At least Burnley have started to concede goals which is a plus.

5 of the top 6 sides played last night and none of them got 3 points. Coventry's good run ended too.

It's not just us struggling to beat sides. It's a very competitive league.

Le Fee v Luton ?

The midfield three that have played most of the season have ten goals between them (Jobe 4, Rigg 4 and Dan Neil 2). We really needed one of them to be hitting double figures to threaten the top two. Add to that the wingers haven’t been anywhere near as prolific as Clarke was last season (Mundle 4, Watson 2, Roberts 2).
